Boaz Fire Department was dispatched earlier today to the Manor House for reports of an explosion and smoke showing from the roof. All units arrived on scene quickly and noticed light smoke coming from the roof near an AC unit. Sardis Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist. Boaz Fire and Police personnel began evacuating the building while other personnel worked to gain access to the roof for investigation. Maintenance arrived on scene and it was determined to be some kind of failure with the AC unit. At this time, everything has been deemed all clear. Thank you Marshall County 911 for helping with our requests quickly and appropriately, Boaz Police Department for assisting with evacuation, Sardis City Volunteer Fire Department for bringing your ladder truck, and utilities. Thankful for all of these committed and professional teams working together to keep Boaz safe.

Charge devices where you can notice trouble. Use the charger specified for the device, keep charging gear away from exits, and stop using a battery that swells, overheats or smells unusual. Share this with someone who charges an e-bike or scooter.

CLOSE YOUR BEDROOM DOOR BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP. 🚪

A closed door can slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire and give you more time to respond if a fire starts. Make it part of your bedtime routine tonight.

Make sure you have working smoke alarms inside each bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home. Practice your escape plan with everyone in the household. If an alarm sounds, get out, stay out, and call 911.
