🚨 TECHNICAL RESCUE 🚨

Yesterday evening, the Bohemia Fire Department was activated for a report of a patient trapped in an attic.

Upon arrival, members utilized specialized rescue techniques and equipment to safely package and lower the patient from the attic, where care was transferred to Community Ambulance Company for further EMS treatment.

This rescue required teamwork, communication, and technical skills to ensure the patient was safely removed in a quick and efficient manner. Great work by all members and agencies on scene!

Following the incident, several of our members took time this morning to debrief the operation, discuss alternative rescue scenarios, and use the experience as a valuable training opportunity for our newer firefighters. Calls like these highlight the importance of continuous training, preparation, and the ability to adapt to unique emergencies.

🚒 Interested in becoming a Bohemia firefighter? Not every call involves fighting fires! From technical rescues to medical emergencies, our members train to handle a wide variety of situations. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn, serve your community, and be part of a dedicated team. Reach out today to learn how you can join the Bohemia Fire Department!

✈️ Aircraft Incident Drill | Long Island MacArthur Airport

This morning, the Bohemia Fire Department, alongside numerous other agencies, participated in a large-scale aircraft incident drill at Long Island MacArthur Airport.

As one of the primary response agencies for the airport, it is imperative that our members remain prepared for the unique challenges an aircraft emergency can present. Today’s scenario simulated an aircraft runway overrun, giving our members the opportunity to practice fire suppression, victim extrication, and multi-agency command operations in a realistic environment.

Training alongside our mutual-aid partners ensures that when a real emergency occurs, we are ready to respond safely, efficiently, and as one team. Great job by all agencies and personnel involved in making today’s drill a success!

🚒 Interested in serving your community? The Bohemia Fire Department is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. No experience is necessary — we provide the training. Stop by the firehouse or reach out to us to learn how you can become a member! Email [email protected]

Yesterday afternoon, the Bohemia Fire Department was activated for an automatic fire alarm. Shortly after dispatch, the alarm was upgraded to a reported structure fire following additional calls reporting smoke inside the building.

Engine 7 arrived shortly thereafter and encountered a moderate smoke condition believed to be coming from an HVAC unit on the roof. Crews from Bohemia and the Lakeland Fire Department accessed the roof and located a burned-out motor within one of the HVAC units.

The situation was quickly brought under control with no further extension reported.

Great job by all members operating on scene. All units operated under the command of Chief Moreau and Lieutenant Haynes. Thank you to Lakeland FD, Holbrook FD, and Community Ambulance for your assistance.

Interested in serving your community and becoming part of something bigger? The Bohemia Fire Department is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team—no experience necessary, just the willingness to learn, train, and serve.
