Upcoming Events at Idaho Novus:

🇺🇸Idaho Novus Classical Academy will host our third annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11th, 2026.

As has been tradition, the ceremony will include by-
name recognition for all veterans within our community.
If you plan to attend, we encourage you to complete this survey so that we may recognize the veterans in your family: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfhSQFI5XONYTVMmYhoZkzVvWwSCDG1scOyRcS_0T4okVDifQ/viewform

Please submit your response to the survey before November 1st, and plan to join us for the ceremony, which begins promptly at 10:00 am.

🎄In addition, Idaho Novus Classical Academy’s Third Annual Christmas Program has been scheduled for 6:30 pm on Monday, December 7th at The Brandt Center at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa.

Please note the new address and date in your calendar as this will be our first time hosting our Christmas program at this venue.

This facility should allow us to accomodate all of our families comfortably and give us a lovely space to present our student performances celebrating the Christmas season.

Please save the date. Additional details will be shared soon.

This past weekend, our 7th graders went on their second annual 7th Grade Milestone Trip to Camp Pinewood in McCall, ID. Students enjoyed team-building competitions featuring chariots, practiced archery and conducted nature study in a river valley, hiked into downtown McCall to enjoy Squatch Ice Cream, and finished their day with fireside tales and recitations. Mr. McGrady, Mrs. Trovinger, and Ms. Williams look forward to taking next year's 7th Graders back in the fall of 2027!

Upper school art and science classes as well as 5th grade PE are taking full advantage of the crisp fall weather with classes outdoors across our beautiful campus in Avimor. The living world is a wonderful place to cultivate our students’ sense of wonder for nature and to help order our affections for truth, goodness, and beauty.

Did you know that our upper school P.E. teacher was once a championship collegiate wrestler and assistant coach at the United States Air Force Academy?

Mr. Erekson is proud to offer our first-ever Fall Wrestling Camp for students in Grades 1-8 beginning on Thursday, October 15. He has many years’ experience coaching, offering wrestling camps, and building wrestling programs across a variety of ages and educational settings.

Practices will be held in Heritage Commons every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 3:35-4:45pm through Thursday, November 19. The registration fee of $150 is payable via MySchoolBucks.

Please note that Idaho Novus intends to offer wrestling as a team sport in the Fall of 2027. However, since our activities are self-financing, we need to raise more than $10,000 to cover the cost of wrestling mats through Fall and Spring Camps this year. In order to establish this program on solid ground, we need to start with strong participation in these wrestling camps. If you would like to volunteer to help, or for more questions about wrestling, please email [email protected].

Welcome back, Novus families! Now that second quarter is underway we have a few opportunities for you to get face to face with other families at the school this week. Tonight is our monthly Parent-Teacher-Community Association meeting at 6:30 pm. You may have read about the PTCA’s events and activities in their monthly bulletin and they are always looking for volunteers to make their ideas a reality. Tomorrow morning after drop off will be our first Leadership Forum of the school year at 9:15 am. This is an opportunity for parents to directly engage with senior leadership at the school. This recurring event includes an opportunity to socialize with other Novus families, an update on the school, and a time for questions. For more upcoming school events, visit idahonovus.org/events.

Has education technology failed our children?

Despite tens of billions spent on "edtech", many students are less cognitively capable than previous generations. Terry Ryan, CEO of Bluum and Board Chair of the Idaho Charter School Association, explores the research of neuroscientist Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath in a recent article at Idaho Education News.

Idaho Novus Classical Academy is a low-tech school that does not utilize digital platforms or artificial intelligence as teaching tools. Classical educators have long warned that digital tools prioritize speed, distraction, and constant stimulation over the stillness and human connection that deep learning requires. This is why you will never find our students learning through a screen at Idaho Novus.

You can hear more from Dr. Horvath in his conversation “Technology, AI, and Learning – a Dangerous Triumvirate” on Monday, October 27th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at Lincoln Auditorium at the Idaho State Capitol. This event is free and open to the public.

The United States spent $30 billion on K-12 education technology in 2024. According to Education Week, that amount is projected to nearly double by 2033.

We are grateful to Eagle Fire Department for partnering with us for our elementary assemblies this afternoon. These assemblies help our students to build awareness of emergency situations and respect for our first responders who courageously protect our communities.
