The Rapid City Veterans Program reached major milestones in 2025, including record recruitment, extensive training, and impactful wildfire mitigation efforts.
In collaboration with local and federal partners, the program completed more than 1,500 acres of prescribed burning to reduce wildfire risk, conducted extensive public education outreach, and led notable projects such as the Lang Ranch initiative, which provided firewood to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and mulch to a military training facility.
The mission remains clear: reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire to the Rapid City community while supporting military veterans as they transition to civilian life and pursue career pathways.
Looking ahead, this program is poised for continued growth and success in wildfire suppression, prevention, and mitigation.
