The Idaho Falls 690 Crew was recognized as ITD's 2025 Maintenance Team of the Year during the recent ITD Impact Awards.
Over the past year, this team took on challenges that went well beyond their regular maintenance responsibilities. While short-staffed during winter operations, they successfully trained seven new CDL holders, all while keeping up with the demands of maintaining one of Idaho's busiest urban areas.
When a particularly harsh winter left dozens of damaged guardrail sections across the Idaho Falls area, the crew didn't wait for someone else to solve the problem. Faced with new installation challenges, they worked with the fabrication shop to develop an innovative modification that allowed them to complete repairs using the equipment they had available.
The result? The team repaired 59 guardrail sections, installed more than 3,500 feet of rail, replaced hundreds of posts, and upgraded multiple impact attenuators — all while continuing to respond to crashes, emergencies, and daily maintenance needs. Big congratulations to the entire crew 👏

Oh, nothing much... just a big THUMBS UP to the Oldtown and Priest River community. 👍
Over the past few weeks, our maintenance crews have been out doing ditching work to make sure water flows away from the roadway and keeps the highway in good shape. It's the kind of work that isn't always glamorous, but it makes a big difference.
You know what else made a difference? The drivers who slowed down, stayed alert, and gave our crews room to work safely! 👏 Because of your patience and safe driving, our team was able to complete this work a little ahead of schedule.
So straight from our 112 crew to the community: "THANK YOU for helping us get the job done safely and efficiently. We appreciate you!"
