Final construction is underway for Ada County’s Park at Expo Idaho, causing a small, temporary closure for the popular Boise route.

Spread the word… If you or someone you know rides this section of the Boise River Greenbelt every day, it will be closed for four days next week. This is happening as we prepare for the grand opening of Ada County's Park at Expo Idaho on Friday, October 23, 2026.
Once reopened, you'll have total access to all the beautiful trails and restored wetlands.

Construction will begin next week on the Eckert Road Bridge and Intersection Project.

Beginning Monday, Eckert Road will be closed over the bridge. Only local traffic will be allowed between Boise Avenue and Millbrook Way. Drivers should use Parkcenter Boulevard and Bown Way to get around the closure. Bicyclists and pedestrians can use the Boise River Greenbelt and should cross the river at Parkcenter Boulevard.

Access to Barber Park will be maintained throughout the project. For this phase of work, those accessing Barber Park should use Boise Avenue on the south side of the Boise River.

This closure is part of ACHD's Eckert Road Bridge and Intersection Project. The work involves replacing the current bridge with a new bridge over the Boise River and Ridenbaugh Canal, which will have a multi-use pathway on the west side of the road. The project also includes adding a greenbelt tunnel under the bridge, updated driveway access to Barber Park, and a single lane roundabout at the intersection of Boise Avenue and Eckert Road.

The project is expected to be completed in fall 2028. Residents can learn more about the project and follow construction updates at achdidaho.org/eckertbridge.

Getting our hands and feet wet learning about the river. 💧🌿
Ada County Parks and Waterways recently hosted a field trip as part of the Confluence Project through IWRRI and University of Idaho. Students tested the river’s physical and chemical water quality and searched for macroinvertebrates: cool little water bugs that help tell us how healthy our river is!
We love partnering with organizations that bring hands-on learning and new educational opportunities into our parks. There’s nothing quite like learning about the river while actually being in it!
