Important Notice for Idaho National Guard Soldiers and Families: No Drill September/October and Impact on Benefits:
For some units across the Idaho National Guard there will be no drill in September and/or in October. This may affect your TriCare Dental Program (TDP) and SGLI (Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance) payments. Here’s what you need to know:
TriCare Dental Program:
Without a drill in September or October, there won’t be a Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) for that corresponding month, which means your usual dental premium won't be automatically deducted and you will be automatically enrolled into paper billing. To avoid a lapse in coverage, please check your payment method or contact United Concordia TriCare Dental directly to make sure your premium is paid.
SGLI Payments:
SGLI payments also won’t be deducted from your LES for any month you are not at drill. Be aware that you might see a double SGLI deduction in your first LES following the next completed drill to cover premiums from any non drilling month as well as the current month responsibility. Please plan accordingly!
Tip: Drill schedules change, emergencies come up, life happens – the last thing you need is to worry about lapsed insurance coverage. For this reason we strongly encourage service members to arrange for their TDP premiums to be paid as an EFT from their debit/bank account vs via an allotment from their LES. Need help with this - give your Military & Family Readiness Specialist (MFRS) a call! We want to ensure there’s no disruption to your benefits! https://www.imd.idaho.gov/idaho-national-guard/family-programs/service-and-family-readiness-program/
Do you and your family depend on your drill pay to cover your TriCare Health Insurance premiums? Will missing a drill place you and your family in a position to not be able to cover your premium?
