Overnight temperatures are dropping and our park maintenance team is starting the multi-week process of winterizing drinking fountains and park restrooms. While some restrooms in Boise parks are heated and open year-round, others must be winterized and closed during the winter months in order to protect the pipes and infrastructure and prevent costly damage. Signage is posted at restrooms that close until spring. Portable restrooms are placed in high use areas and near sports fields without permanent restrooms available. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.

Help us plant trees in the City of Trees! 🌳 Our friends at Trees Idaho are looking for volunteers to help plant 100 new trees at homes in Boise neighborhoods from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 24. You'll meet at Morris Hill Park for treats and a tree planting presentation before heading out to homes as part of a volunteer team. Youth and teens are welcome alongside a parent or guardian! After more than a year of construction, neighbors in West Boise are starting to enjoy new amenities at McDevitt Park, including a pump track, nature playground, bike trails and more.

An important warning from Central District Health for people and pets regarding death cap mushrooms spotted in the Treasure Valley.

Central District Health is urging residents to avoid mushrooms found in Boise and Garden City, in yards, parks, and other landscaped areas. Death Cap mushrooms were reported in several locations, including along the Boise Greenbelt.

Death Caps are among the world's deadliest mushrooms. They can resemble edible mushrooms, and their toxins are not destroyed by cooking, freezing, or drying. Don't eat mushrooms you can't positively identify. Keep an eye on kids and keep pets away from mushrooms. Dogs especially are at risk.

On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the original Boise Valley people—the Shoshone, Bannock and Northern Paiute—and recognize their enduring connection to this land. Eagle Rock Park and Chief Eagle Eye Reserve hold deep cultural and spiritual significance for the Indigenous people of the Boise Valley. The names of these special places reflect their history and honor the generations who have gathered, found healing and honored important traditions here. Both sites were renamed by the Boise City Council in 2019 to honor the region's indigenous history.
