🌡️Several record highs were set or tied yesterday:
Boise - 88 (tied)
Jerome - 88 (previously 87)
Burns - 86 (previously 85)
Baker City - 86 (tied)

Temperatures will remain at or near record highs this week with lower valley highs in the mid to upper 80s.

High pressure will bring record breaking hot temperatures for this time of year through Friday. A low pressure system will then move in Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures and chances of rain showers over high terrain.

A spooky warm start to October 🎃 ☀ ! A strong Pacific high pressure system will bring considerably warmer than normal temperatures Thursday and Friday, with valley daytime temps expected to reach the lower to mid 80s.

While seasonal averages say we should be cooling a little each day, the upcoming weather pattern says different! Valley temperatures are expected to climb into the low/mid 80s for the first week of October.

🌬️ Aside from warm and dry conditions across the region, the next few days will also be breezy in the Snake Plain between Boise and the Magic Valley. Wind gusts will generally peak 25-30 mph out of the northwest each afternoon through Wednesday.

🌤 High pressure building over the region will return a warming trend, with temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above normal expected late week. Breezy afternoon winds will continue through midweek, especially over south-central Idaho. Dry conditions will also persist throughout the coming week.

🍂🌡Quite a chilly start to Saturday! The cold frontal passage yesterday brought valley temperatures down into the lower 40s/upper 30s overnight through early morning! High pressure will return a warming trend Sunday through early next week.

A strong autumn cold front will sweep across the area tomorrow afternoon and evening, dropping temperatures as much as 25 degrees in a 24-hour period. This model animation visualizes the dramatic cooldown that will occur.

Warm, dry weather with clear skies will continue across southeastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho through Thursday. This seems like perfect weather to explore parts of the area that our office provides forecasts. You can use the point and click map on our website (www.weather.gov/boi) to get detailed forecasts for any of these locations...including Balanced Rock State Park, south of Buhl, Idaho, where it will be sunny with a high of 82 degrees today.

Today marks the beginning of astronomical fall!
However the weather must have missed the memo☹️. A warming trend will continue through Thursday, when lower elevation temperatures peak around 90 degrees. A cold front Friday will bring gusty winds and more seasonable temperatures.
