TRANSPORTATION UPDATE FOR WED., OCT. 14

Buses will resume regular routes, including dirt roads, on Wednesday. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time of storm recovery.

Holmes County Schools will reopen on Tuesday, October 13.

We understand that many families may still be without power as our community continues to recover from the storm. Attendance will be handled with flexibility for the remainder of the week on a case-by-case basis for families experiencing storm-related hardships.

🚌 Transportation Update:

Buses will not run on dirt roads.

Some paved roads may also be unsafe for buses due to low-hanging limbs and power lines.

Bus drivers will contact families if they are unable to run their normal route.

The safety and well-being of our students, families, and staff remain our top priority. Thank you for your patience, grace, and understanding as we navigate this together.

Holmes County Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, October 12 due to continued widespread power outages throughout the county. We understand that this is a challenging time for our families and employees, and we want to allow everyone time to focus on recovery efforts.

At this time, we plan to reopen on Tuesday. However, we will continue to monitor and assess conditions throughout the county, and will work with our families and their individual unique challenges. Please continue to monitor ParentSquare and our official page for updates regarding Tuesday. Thank you for your patience as we all navigate these trying times. The safety and well-being of our families and employees is our top priority .

Ice, water and MREs are available now at the Emergency Operations Center, located at 1001 E. Highway 90 in Bonifay.

Water and MREs are also available at:

• New Hope EMS/Fire Station — 1969 Highway 2, Westville
• Cross Point Church — 1488 Highway 90, Ponce de Leon

📢 The shelter at Bonifay K-8 School is now open for General Population and Special Needs at 140 Blue Devil Drive, Bonifay.

If you need shelter and have no transportation, please call the EOC at 850-547-1112. We will do our best to help arrange transportation.

Bring your medications and essential supplies, and allow time to arrive safely before conditions deteriorate.

Out of an abundance of caution for our students, employees, and families, Holmes County Schools will be CLOSED on Friday, October 9 due to anticipated impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday are cancelled as well. After-school activities on Thursday, October 8 may continue as planned.

We encourage all families to make storm preparations early and stay informed through reliable weather sources. Updates regarding school schedules will be communicated via ParentSquare and our official HDSB page. Stay safe and be prepared!

Our district is closely monitoring the forecast and potential impacts of Tropical Storm Isaias.

At this time, no decisions have been made regarding school operations for Friday. We will continue to monitor the forecast and will make a decision regarding any school schedule changes or closures within the next 24 hours. Updates will be communicated via ParentSquare and our official HDSB page.
