🌳 **HOLMES COUNTY POST-STORM RECOVERY UPDATE**

Holmes County continues to move forward with recovery efforts following the storm. **Significant progress has been made throughout our county, but recovery is not yet complete.**

**Salvation Army Assistance**
The Salvation Army has now concluded its hot meal and food distribution operations in Holmes County. We are extremely grateful to the Salvation Army, its volunteers, and everyone who worked to provide meals, water, food boxes and support to our residents during the immediate recovery period.

**Storm Debris Pickup Continues**
Debris removal crews continue working throughout Holmes County. At this time, there is no set completion date for debris pickup. Please be patient as crews continue working through affected areas and collecting eligible storm-related debris.

Residents who still have storm debris awaiting pickup should continue to keep it separated from normal household garbage and placed in an accessible location near the roadway without blocking traffic, drainage areas, mailboxes, fire hydrants or utility equipment.

**Please Continue to Use Caution**
Even as conditions return to normal, storm-damaged trees, hanging limbs and weakened structures may still present hazards. Please use caution when working around damaged areas and give debris-removal crews and equipment plenty of room to work.

**Recovery Is a Community Effort**
We have made tremendous progress, and that progress continues each day. We are grateful for our residents, first responders, public works and debris crews, volunteers, community organizations, businesses and outside agencies that stepped forward to help Holmes County.

**Recovery takes time, but Holmes County continues moving forward together.**

We will continue to provide updates as additional recovery information becomes available.

⚠️ GUSTY WINDS EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND

The National Weather Service forecast shows wind gusts reaching as high as 35–40 mph in parts of Holmes County this weekend.

As our community continues recovering from recent hurricane damage, these winds could bring down weakened trees, hanging limbs, and damaged power poles, causing additional damage or power outages. Loose debris, tarps, and damaged roofing may also become airborne.

Please take time now to:

• Secure loose outdoor items, tarps, and recovery supplies.
• Avoid parking or gathering beneath damaged trees or hanging limbs.
• Use extra caution while cleaning up or making repairs, especially on roofs or ladders.
• Charge phones and keep flashlights ready in case power is interrupted.
• Stay well away from downed lines and anything touching them. Always assume they are energized.

Storm-damaged trees and limbs can fall with little warning. Please stay alert and give recovery crews room to work as we continue moving forward together.

***STORM DEBRIS REMOVAL BEGINS TODAY, OCTOBER 15, 2026***

******AVAILABLE TO ALL HOLMES COUNTY RESIDENTS****

As recovery efforts continue throughout Holmes County, residents can help make the debris removal process safer and more efficient by properly separating and placing storm debris.

Please separate vegetative debris (trees, limbs, etc.) from construction and demolition materials (Plywood, shingles, etc.) and place debris at the curbside, but out of the roadway. Do not place debris near utility poles, mailboxes, fire hydrants, meters, trees, or other structures that could prevent crews from safely accessing it.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Everyday household garbage, bagged trash, and normal curbside waste will NOT be collected as part of storm debris removal. Please do not mix regular household garbage with storm debris.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as crews continue working throughout our county. Proper debris placement helps crews work faster, safer, and more efficiently and keeps our roadways accessible.

Please share this information with your neighbors, especially those who may not have access to social media.
