🍂 From summer-like temperatures to freezing nights. It's fall in the High Country!
With much colder weather on the way this weekend, now is a great time to take a few simple steps to keep your home comfortable and your energy use in check.
🌡️ Check your thermostat settings as you switch to heating — remember, the bigger the temperature difference is between inside and outside your home, the longer and harder your heating system has to work to keep you comfortable.
🏠 Seal drafts around windows and doors to keep warm air inside. Use caulk, weatherstripping, even rolled-up towels against a drafty exterior door!
🌬️ Check your HVAC filter and replace it if needed. Dirty filters are inefficient.
☀️ Open curtains during sunny days and close them at night to help retain heat.
🛠 Use all the energy tools available through the NRLP Resource Center, from IntelaHome® Energy Dashboard to the built-in energy tracker on the NRLP Connect mobile app and usage notifications — they are all great resources!
Speaking of getting winter-ready, we enjoyed joining the Town of Boone, North Carolina and App State Renewable Energy Initiative-REI for Wednesday's Weatherization Workshop! We loved connecting with community members and sharing energy-saving tools and resources.
A little preparation now can make a difference when colder weather arrives!
