We’re thrilled to announce the incredible success of our Grants Preparation and Strategies course this semester, alongside the launch of our new nonprofit lab, Lab iMPACTLY!

🏆 Mountain Alliance received the Audience Choice Award, showcasing their impactful work and dedication to community service. Congratulations!

🏆 The Community Care Clinic was awarded the RFP Mountaineer Nonprofit Resource Grant, a testament to their commitment to providing essential services to the community. Well done!

Let’s also applaud our incredible students who partnered with local nonprofits and applied to over $300,900 worth of grants funding! Your hard work and dedication have truly made a difference in our community. We are incredibly proud of all you.

With the launch of Lab iMPACTLY, our students can engage in hands-on learning experiences that bridge theory with practice. This approach empowers them to tackle real-world challenges and make a tangible impact, preparing them for success in their future careers. The ICMA Student Chapter of AppState MPA met last night with Ashley Bolick and Charlie Chapman, Caldwell County Economic Development. There are some impressive future town and county managers in that group. Had the pleasure of having dinner last evening with one of our former MPA students, Nicole Gross (right), and Hazel Edmond. I hired both of these ladies as grant managers when I was at the Dept of Commerce. Whenever they are in Western NC doing site visits, we arrange a visit over dinner. Awesome ladies.

We are proud of you, Cody!

NCGrowth analyst Cody Taylor, a two-time Appalachian State University graduate (B.S. in Political Science and Master of Public Administration) and NC State University Ph.D. student, was one of three authors of a strategic plan presented today to the UNC System Board of Governors to increase utilization of historically underutilized businesses. Cody is also a first-generation college graduate and a Navy veteran. We are so impressed by his work to foster business growth and development in North Carolina!
