Red Valley Rescue Squad

Today, Red Valley Rescue Squad pauses to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We especially remember the firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, and other brave first responders who ran toward danger to help strangers—many making the ultimate sacrifice.

Their courage, service, and selflessness will never be forgotten. May God continue to comfort their families and bless all who answer the call to serve. 🇺🇸

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Red Valley Rescue Squad – Squad 9! 🇺🇸

This weekend we celebrate the freedoms we cherish, the courage of those who fought to secure them, and the strength of the communities we are proud to serve.

As you gather with family and friends to enjoy cookouts, parades, and fireworks, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely:
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals when possible.
🌡️ Hydrate more than usual and limit your time outdoors in the excessive heat.
🚗 Never drive impaired.
☎️ And remember—if an emergency happens, don’t hesitate to call 911.

While you’re making memories this Fourth of July, our volunteers are standing by, ready to answer the call—day or night.

From all of us at Red Valley Rescue Squad – Squad 9, we wish you and your family a safe, happy, and blessed Independence Day. ❤️🤍💙🚑

🚨 BLACK ICE ALERT – FRANKLIN COUNTY 🚨

Hurrah! A lot of today’s snow melted.
⚠️ The bad news? All that runoff and slush will refreeze once the sun goes down — and that means black ice.

What is black ice?
Black ice is a thin, nearly invisible layer of ice that forms when wet roads freeze. It often looks like normal pavement, but it’s extremely slippery and can cause vehicles to lose control in seconds.

Where does black ice form first?
• Bridges & overpasses
• Shaded areas
• Curves and hills
• Roads that look “just wet”

How to stay safe tonight:
🚗 Slow down and increase following distance
🛑 Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns
🌉 Use extra caution on bridges and overpasses
🏠 If you don’t have to travel, stay home

📞 Emergency: Call 911
📞 Non-Emergency / Road Concerns: (540) 483-3000

Even though roads may look clear, conditions can change quickly after sunset. Please use caution and look out for one another.

Stay safe, Franklin County. 💙
