HISTORY IN THE MAKING FOR WARRICK COUNTY
We are thrilled to announce that the Warrick County Commissioners and County Council have officially approved plans for the construction of Warrick County’s first dedicated Coroner’s Office and Morgue facility!
For years, our Coroner’s Office has operated out of approximately 100 square feet of space. We have relied heavily on the generosity and cooperation of the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office, Koehler Funeral Home and Titzer Funeral Home to help us carry out our responsibilities.
Today, we are taking a tremendous step forward!
This new facility is about so much more than a building. It's about giving our dedicated Medicolegal Death Investigators the space, resources, and tools they need to do the difficult but incredibly important work they do every single day.
It's about providing a safe, private, and compassionate environment for families who come to us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
It's about allowing us to keep our investigations right here in Warrick County, alongside our law enforcement partners, rather than having to transport decedents to another county to complete portions of our investigations.
Most importantly, it's about moving Warrick County forward and ensuring our Coroner's Office has the facilities necessary to serve our growing community for generations to come.
We cannot express how grateful we are to our County Commissioners, County Council and community for recognizing this need and investing in the future of our office.
There is still work ahead of us, but today is a day worth celebrating!
For the first time in Warrick County's history, we are building a facility of our very own. We couldn't be more proud of what this means for our county!
A construction timeline has not been confirmed. Commissioners plan to take bids for the job in January.
