We all have memories we return to.

The first song that meant something.
The first person we loved.
The moment everything changed.

But what happens when the memories you've carried for decades begin to contradict each other?

The Day the Music Died opens next Friday, October 30, at Old City Hall 13 Crosswicks Street Bordentown, NJ . Tickets available in the link.

George Martin, the Paper Hanger—December 1888!!

His name and the date are written on the wall in the small space that houses the Seth Thomas clockworks. Perhaps his signature was meant to remain hidden beneath the wallpaper until the next paperhanger came along. I can’t even imagine trying to hang wallpaper in such tight quarters!

Could the remnants of wallpaper still clinging to the wall be the very paper George hung in 1888? I like to think so.

I found George listed in the 1889 directory as a Bordentown City resident living at 56 or 60 Second Street. By 1920, he had his “own store” and was living at 5 McKnight Avenue.

A name left on a wall—and a little piece of someone’s life waiting to be rediscovered.

It was standing room only for the A-TEAM visit today. They brought along the Art-Cart, their artwork and wise & inspiring words of poetry for their visit to Old City Hall. Thank you to all who made time today to welcome these good folks to City of Bordentown!

📸 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐍, 𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐊𝐒—𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆!

Get out there, start snapping and show us how you see our beloved one square mile of charm. Then get those photos over to the Bordentown City Creative Team!

Don’t make me come out there after you! 😂

The 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 invites city residents of all ages to participate in “𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬,” 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬? 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐞—𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭?

Will you capture something architectural or historic? People or animals? A familiar landmark or a detail others may overlook? Something abstract? Black and white or bursting with color?

This is not a contest. There is no judging, no entry fee and no special experience or equipment required. We simply want to see what you see.

It’s easy to participate:

1. Take a photograph somewhere in Bordentown—or choose a favorite vintage photograph of a Bordentown person, place or event.

2. Print your photograph on photo paper. You can print it at CVS, Staples or another local photo-printing counter. If you aren’t sure how, ask—someone there can help you print it directly from your phone.

3. Find a stand-up frame. Borrow one, temporarily repurpose a frame you already have or dig through the attic or basement. Nothing fancy or expensive is needed! If you don’t have a frame, come as you are—we still want your photograph. Photos will be displayed on tables rather than hung on the walls.

4. Attach a label with the photographer’s name and the name of the location, event or subject pictured. Please also provide your email address so we can notify you when it is time to pick up your photograph.
