The South Hadley Granby Chamber Of Commerce plays a vital role in promoting and supporting the businesses that serve South Hadley and Granby, helping to strengthen the local economy and create opportunities throughout both communities.
This week, I spoke and listened at their legislative breakfast. As legislators, it is important that we hear directly from the employers, entrepreneurs, and business leaders who are investing in our region every day. Those conversations help ensure that the work we do on Beacon Hill reflects the needs and priorities of the communities we serve.
Thank you to the South Hadley & Granby Chamber of Commerce for hosting this discussion and for your continued commitment to helping local businesses grow and succeed.

Please join me in wishing the happiest 90th Birthday to the Town of Ludlow's own Iris Ferrara!
For more than six decades, Iris has been the heart and soul of Indian Orchard Pizzeria. At 90 years young, she is still doing what she loves, making sauce, preparing dough, and serving customers who have become family.
I was glad to stop by to celebrate this incredible milestone and present Iris with a citation. Having her proudly display it for all to see made the visit even more special!

For many educators, missing the RetirementPlus enrollment window was not a choice. It was the result of administrative errors, inadequate notification, or life circumstances such as maternity or medical leave.
These teachers have spent decades serving our students, families, and communities. They should not be penalized for something that happened 25 years ago.
Today, I was proud to join my colleagues in the Massachusetts State Senate to pass bipartisan legislation that provides a fair opportunity and corrects that inequity while protecting the long-term stability of our retirement system.

Congratulations to Aurora's Pizzeria on the grand opening of your new location on Westover Road in Chicopee!
For 28 years, Aurora's has been serving great food and building lasting connections in our community. It's exciting to see this family-owned business begin a new chapter with a larger space, an expanded menu, and a continued commitment to serving customers across Chicopee.
Noah was on hand at their ribbon-cutting celebration this week to congratulate them and offer a citation on behalf of the Senate.

Workforce development remains one of the most important investments we can make in the Commonwealth's future.
This morning, I joined Senator Adam Gomez and regional partners for a workforce development briefing hosted by Commonwealth Corporation, the Western Mass Economic Development Council, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
From supporting employers with hiring and training grants to expanding opportunities in the growing clean energy sector, these programs help connect workers to good-paying jobs while strengthening our regional economy.
Thank you to Commonwealth Corporation and all of our partners for bringing together chambers of commerce, economic development leaders, and employers from across Western Massachusetts to discuss how we can continue building a skilled, competitive workforce and ensure businesses have access to the resources they need to succeed.

Pride Month is a reminder that every person deserves to be seen, valued, and treated with dignity and respect. Thank you to everyone who joined us for yesterday's Pride flag raising in the Town of Belchertown.
I was grateful for the opportunity to speak and to stand alongside local leaders, advocates, and residents as we celebrated the diversity that strengthens our Commonwealth.
Happy Pride Month!

A huge shoutout to our Constituent Services Director, Noah, who made time out of his busy schedule of casework to speak with the Senate's newest interns about the important work we do serving constituents in need on Beacon Hill.
Constituent service is at the heart of what we do. Whether it's helping a family access benefits, assisting a veteran, resolving an issue with a state agency, or simply making sure someone's voice is heard, our office is committed to being a resource for the people we serve.
Thank you, Noah, for sharing your expertise and helping prepare the next generation of public servants for the important work of serving our constituents.

15 years ago today, what began as an ordinary afternoon quickly became one of the most devastating weather events in our Commonwealth's history. I was traveling on the Mass Pike when the EF-3 Springfield Tornado ripped through Western and Central Massachusetts, claiming lives, injuring hundreds, and forever changing countless families.
I also remember what came after: neighbors helping neighbors, first responders putting themselves in harm's way, and communities coming together to rebuild.
Today, we remember those who lost their lives, those who suffered tremendous loss, and the resilience that helped our region recover.

The Massachusetts State Senate's FY27 budget is about investing in people, communities, and opportunities across Massachusetts.
I'm proud to have secured more than $2 million in additional funding for Western Mass to support early childhood education, youth programming, veterans services, mental health care, public safety, literacy initiatives, workforce development, healthy aging programs, and community organizations serving residents throughout our region.

Massachusetts, like much of the country, is facing a growing shortage of obstetricians and gynecologists, creating challenges for patients seeking timely access to care.
During budget week, I had the opportunity to meet with members of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists - ACOG to discuss the workforce challenges facing providers across the Commonwealth and the steps the Legislature can take to strengthen and expand access to women's health care.
Thank you to ACOG for the conversation and for their continued advocacy on behalf of patients and providers.
