Today's : Religions of Asia with Professor Hughes! Offered this fall, the RN103 survey will cover Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Doaism, Confucianism, and Shinto.

This fall, take African American Religious History with Professor Guillory! Topics include Judaism in the Af Am community, Voodoo, New Age religion in the digital age, and Africanized Christianity.

Stephen Prothero presented with Russell Chair in American Religion

Professor Stephen Prothero, author of many books on religion and American culture and teacher of such popular courses as “Death and Immortality” has been awarded the C. Allyn Russell and Elizabeth V. Russell Professorship for Religion in America.

C. Allyn Russell began his 26-year career at Boston University in 1961, focusing on the history of religion in America. In 1982 he received the Metcalf Cup. Prothero, who just won a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanites in their Public Scholars program (and appeared on both the Daily Show and the Colbert Report in their time), has been one of the major contributors to the national discussion about American religion.

Congratulations to our 2017 Religion Department Graduates!

The BU Program in Scripture and the Arts is excited to present "Cosmos and Creation in the Twelfth Century: An Interpretation of Genesis 1," with Professor Margot Fassler, of the University of Notre Dame, and Christian Jara, digital artist. The event is on Monday, April 24th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Boston Museum of Science Planetarium (1 Science Park, Boston, MA).
