The Post attended the service of Private Kwack K. Woo last Friday. After 79 years, Private Woo's remains were recovered and identified coming home to reunite with his family. It was an honor to be part of the service and to witness the unity of our veteran community, where they come as far as New York City (Lt. B.R. Kimlau Chinese Memorial Post 1291) and Seattle (Cathay Post 186 - Seattle, WA) to give our salute to a fallen hero who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember and honor you, Private Woo.

"In February 1945, Woo was assigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division. His regiment was engaged in fierce fighting near the town of Biesdorf, Germany, when he was reported killed in action by small arms fire on Feb. 9. His body was unable to be recovered due to intense fighting against heavily reinforced German forces on an elevated position. Despite various recovery attempts, Woo’s remains were not accounted for during or after the war."

According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency website, there are 81,173 still missing and unaccounted for from World War II, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Gulf Wars/other conflicts. We hope and pray that one day that each of our heroes will be founded and accounted for and they will be able to reunite with their families.

Last night, the Post passed out 130 toys to the Chung Wah Academy and Kwong Chinese School. It was a delight to be able to be part of the schools Christmas celebrations and to share the Christmas spirit with them. Thanks to all the donors and community organizations that supported us in our annual toy drive. We wish you a safe, healthy and happy holiday!

Yesterday, Santa and the Post collaborated and brought toys to the children at the Chung Wah Academy, one of two schools we collected and purchased toys from our toy drive. It was great to bring cheer and smiles to the children.

We will be doing it again this Thursday. Thanks again to all the generous donors who made this happen!

First day of our toy drive was a success. It was cold, but the community came out and supported us with toys and cash donations. We will be out there tomorrow again and next weekend. Please come and say hello and bring a brand new toy. All toys will be donated to our schools in Chinatown for Christmas.

We have our annual toy drive starting soon again. We would love your support and have you donate a toy. We are looking for toys for ages 5-12. The toys need to be brand new and we ask for no toy weapons. The toys will be donated to two schools in Chinatown for the Christmas holiday.

We will be standing at the Chinatown Gateway from 10:00am-2:00pm on November 25 and 26 and December 2 and 3. Thank you in advance for your support.

This past Saturday, the Post participated in the annual City of Boston Boston Vets Veterans Day parade. It was an honor to be part of the celebration to honor our nation's veterans, active duty service members, reservists and national guardsmen. We are especially proud to continue to be one of the largest groups of the American Legion represented.

As Veterans Day approaches, please take time to remember our veterans. Think about a veteran in your life, in your community and think about their service, their experience and what it means to have worn the uniform and serve this nation. We are proud of all our veterans, past and present. We thank you for your service.

Semper fidelis!

The Post was honored to take part in PVT Wing O. Hom's Hero Square dedication. Thanks to Commissioner Santiago and the City of Boston Veterans Services for hosting the event and bringing light and closure for this hero's family. PVT. Hom is among the 20,000 Chinese Americans that served during WWII. His square sits in front of his home on Beach Street where he once lived more than 80 years ago with his family. He was just 20 years old when he passed and he is among the greatest generation. We slow salute you, PVT Hom. May you rest in peace. We are forever grateful for your service and sacrifice.
