Last week, Secretary Goralnick had the honor of speaking at the commissioning ceremony celebrating graduates of Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine as they took the oath to serve in our armed forces.

This special ceremony marked the beginning of their military medical careers — a commitment to care for those who serve and protect our nation. The event also recognized graduates who are military veterans, honoring their continued dedication to service both in and out of uniform.

We’re proud to celebrate these new military medical officers and grateful for their leadership, compassion, and commitment to those who wear the uniform. Congratulations to all who were commissioned and recognized — your service makes Massachusetts and our nation stronger.

Last week, state and local leaders visited the Massachusetts Veterans Home at Holyoke to mark major milestones in its continued transformation.

It has achieved full state & federal licensure and is now reporting some of the strongest clinical and quality-of-life outcomes in the country.

This video explains more about the progress — and our continued commitment to delivering the high-quality care our veterans deserve.

Earlier this week on Memorial Day, Secretary Goralnick delivered remarks at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, speaking powerfully about honoring the fallen by carrying forward their legacy of service — through kindness, respect for one another, and service to our communities.

On Wednesday, Governor Maura Healey , Secretary Goralnick, and local leaders visited the Massachusetts Veterans Home at Holyoke to recognize just how far the Home has come — and the new standard it’s now setting for veteran care nationwide.

The Holyoke Home has achieved full state and federal licensure and certification, but even more importantly, it’s posting some of the strongest clinical outcomes and quality-of-life measures in the country.

This visit highlights the ongoing transformation of veterans services across Massachusetts. Over the past three years, the Healey-Driscoll Administration has worked to rebuild trust with veterans and families, strengthen staffing, modernize operations, and improve safety and clinical care at both Massachusetts Veterans Homes.

Our veterans deserve the highest standard of care — and that’s exactly what we’re committed to delivering.

Earlier this month, we had the honor of gathering in Norwood for the 18th Annual Massachusetts Women Veterans Network Conference.

With this year’s theme, “Empowering Her Voice. Honoring Her Service,” we created a space to recognize not only the service of women veterans, but also their strength, resilience, and the lasting impact they continue to make in their communities. It was a day to celebrate accomplishments and uplift the powerful voice each woman veteran brings—as a leader, changemaker, and self-advocate who speaks up for herself and others.

Throughout the conference, we highlighted the importance of self-advocacy, encouraging women veterans to share their stories, seek the support and resources they deserve, and confidently use their voices to shape their futures and strengthen their communities.

A special thank you to our guest speakers, Jody Sloane and Zaneta Adams, for sharing their insight and inspiration. And to every woman veteran, family member, advocate, and partner who joined us—thank you for making this event so meaningful.

We are proud to stand alongside you and remain committed to supporting and empowering women veterans across the Commonwealth.
