We were honored to join US Rep. Ayanna Pressley at a recent town hall at the Dorchester YMCA, where she spoke about the importance of community advocacy, resilience, and collective action.
We’re especially grateful for her continued support of St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children, including critical federal funding in FY2024 supporting the gut-renovation of St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children (SMC)’s oldest program, Young Parenting Living Program (YPLP) that helps us serve young mothers working toward stability and housing.
Thank you to Congresswoman Pressley for being a strong partner and champion for our community.

With 4,200 students facing housing insecurity in Boston Public Schools this year, youth homelessness in Greater Boston remains a critical issue.
St. Mary’s Center recently hosted our third annual It Takes a Village event to raise awareness and advance advocacy around this pressing topic.
We’re grateful to our panelists, Shirley Fan-Chan (Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education), Brian Marques (Boston Public Schools), and Kate Orlin (Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program), for their leadership and insight, and to all who joined us in this important conversation.
“One child experiencing homelessness is still too many.”
