BIG day at the library today!
It starts with the Freedom to Read Day of Action: Communities Unite Against Book Bans! (https://bpl.bibliocommons.com/events/6707ec78dfa2e93600060de4) Libraries across the country are hosting events today in support of the Freedom to Read! Stop by the plaza on Dartmouth St. to her about this important issue.
Then, at 1pm, check out the film screening of the documentary, F***Y: THE RIGHT TO ROCK (https://bpl.bibliocommons.com/events/65eb4cc1501498f32150ff0b), about the revolutionary all-girl, Filipina rock band from the early 70's. Part of our Revolutionary Music series.
The whole day is capped with an amazing conversation about music and activism between two revolutionary musicians, June Millington, lead guitarist of the band F***y, and Canadian musician and author, Emm Gryner. (And not a spoiler -- they're going to perform together!)
It's worth the trip into the City!

The COVID-19 pandemic has drawn unprecedented attention to essential workers. In the Dirty Work (forthcoming from Farrar, Straus and Giroux), award-winning journalist Eyal Press examines less familiar occupational hazards that fall disproportionately on marginalized groups. Learn more about the hidden costs of inequality in America at our author talk next week, moderated by NYU professor Kim Phillips-Fein and presented by Kirstein Business Library and Innovation Center, Boston Public Library.
