Today, the Fisher College Police Department honors Memorial Day — a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for the service members who gave their lives in defense of our nation.
Memorial Day began after the Civil War as Decoration Day, when communities gathered to place flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers. Over time, it became a national day of remembrance dedicated to all U.S. military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice.
As a campus police department, we recognize the deep connection between military service and public service. Many within our Fisher community — students, alumni, faculty, staff, and officers — have worn the uniform. Today, we honor those who never returned home and the families who carry their legacy forward.
Their sacrifice will always matter.

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, we join departments across the nation in remembering those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
We especially honor Massachusetts State Police Trooper Kevin Trainor, who was tragically killed last week when a wrong‑way driver struck his cruiser on Route 1 in Lynnfield while he was responding to a call. His dedication, courage, and final act of service reflect the highest ideals of policing, and his loss has been felt deeply across the Commonwealth and throughout the law enforcement community.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
