In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Smart from the Start Inc has paused regularly scheduled programming to engage in a day of reflection, remembrance and service.

Today we recommit ourselves, individually and collectively, to taking action to breathe life into Dr. King’s Dream, while working tirelessly to uplift, empower and support our beloved community.

These are extraordinarily difficult times we are living in, but we must not despair. We can’t agonize we must organize.

We are tomorrow’s ancestors and our children are depending upon us.

Boston stepped up and took our boys out, gave them what they needed, and reminded them who they are: brilliant, capable, and destined for more. From fresh fits to school supplies to real talk about goals and greatness — our young kings are walking into this year with vision, ambition, and confidence. 👟🎒📘
This is what change really looks like — and now, cities across the East Coast are following suit.
From Philadelphia to Atlanta to Washington, D.C., our Male Youth Development Team is helping boys return to school not just prepared, but empowered.

💬 Education isn’t just about books — it’s about believing in our boys, investing in their futures, and showing up for them at every turn.
🙌🏽 Big love to all the families, mentors, and community partners who are lifting our boys up and reminding them of their worth. This is how we build legacy. This is how we create change.

We believe no one should go hungry — and we’re stepping up to make sure of it.
💪 Each neighborhood across our city is now hosting a local Food Pantry Site to help families access FREE, healthy, and delicious groceries every week.
