The Center was created in 1990 as the nation’s first and largest Veteran-specific homeless shelter. It began as a 100-bed, emergency facility in a surplus VA office building, and by 1991 was recognized as the 142nd “Point of Light” by President George H.W. Bush during his administration. Today, on Memorial Day, we pause and honor the many brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. The legacy of those we have lost will never be forgotten. Because of their sacrifice, the freedoms we have today are possible. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families and loved ones of these heroes.

We are thankful for the wonderful breakfast provided by Frank Forde and the Watertown Police Department during their 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day Breakfast! Each year, Veterans enjoy a traditional Irish breakfast served by the incredible group from Watertown!
