For six decades, the League School for Autism has been a cornerstone of support, education, and opportunity for students with autism and their families across Massachusetts. I recently had the opportunity to join with colleagues from the House and Senate at the League School Legislative Breakfast to celebrate 60 years of service and discuss a continued partnership to support their meaningful work.

2nd ANNUAL MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY AT THE STATE HOUSE
Last week at the State House, heading in to Memorial Day weekend, we celebrated the 2nd Annual โMilitary Appreciation Day.โ Each member of the legislature has the opportunity to nominate a service member from their district to honor their contributions and service.
In between votes on the FY27 Senate Budget, I took the time to honor the veterans and service members who serve our communities, our Commonwealth, and our nation admirably.
I was proud to join with my friends and colleagues in the House to recognize these incredible individuals:
๐บ๐ธ Sharon Veteran Service Agent Paul Bergeron
๐บ๐ธ Mansfield VSO Michael Raymond
๐บ๐ธ Canton VSO Arafat Knight
๐บ๐ธ Attleboro National Guard Veteran Sgt. 1st Class Shane Rioux
๐บ๐ธ Norton United States Marine Corps Veteran Gary Cameron
Please join me in thanking these veterans who we know have given so much for so many!

This Memorial Day weekend I was honored to attend and participate in several ceremonies across our Senate District as we take the time to gather in community in remembrance of those that sacrificed their lives so that we may live ours in Freedom.
- Saturday, I had the pleasure of speaking at a powerful ceremony in North Atttleborough. ๐บ๐ธ
- Sunday morning started with the traditional sunrise service at Hillside Cemetery in Attleboro, and though it was pouring rain, many were in attendance. ๐บ๐ธ
- Later on Sunday morning, I joined with veterans, elected officials, and community members for a service at Knollwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Canton. ๐บ๐ธ
- Sunday afternoon, I was honored to participate in the Memorial Day ceremony in Sharon, which shifted from its normal location at Rock Ridge cemetery to indoors at the Care One facility. ๐บ๐ธ
- Monday, I joined with the community of Attleboro at Capron Park for a ceremony in the shadow of the new Global War on Terror memorial that will be unveiled this Summer. ๐บ๐ธ

On this Memorial Day we pause, reflect, remember, and honor the men and women who left behind the comfort of home, the embrace of their loved ones, and the certainty of tomorrow so that future generations can live in freedom, with hope, and with opportunity.

Heartbreaking to learn of the line of duty death of Boston Fire Fighter, Bobby "BK" Kilduff. A Union Fire Fighter to his core, I know his loss will be deeply felt among his Brothers and Sisters at the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) and Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF. With a heavy heart, we are lifting up prayers to St. Florian today for Bobby's family, loved ones, friends, his union family, and all who knew and loved him.๐

Barney Frank was truly one of a kind. He used his top-notch intellect, quick wit, and deeply held belief in public service to give a voice to those too often unheard. Barneyโs sharp critiques and verbal arrows were well known, and at times biting for those on the receiving end, but the thing I admired most was his authenticity. I always found it incredibly refreshing that in a world of poll-tested messaging and carefully planned prose, Congressman Frank was unapologetically himself, said what he meant, and called it as he saw it. He was a trailblazer in many ways, and was not afraid to be an imperfect human being who deeply valued public service and his ability to change the face of things in our Country, by sticking up for people and plainly calling out injustice. He did exactly that for our Congressional district, the Commonwealth, and our Nation and will be deeply missed.

Today in the Senate we are kicking off a few days of debate over the FY27 State Budget. Despite fiscal uncertainty being exported from Washington, along with dramatically increasing cost pressures here at home, this budget shows that we can maintain our commitments, create opportunities, and continue to lead, without raising taxes and despite the growing uncertainty. The Senate budget increases aid to cities and towns, our public schools, and maintains a record-high rainy day fund.
The process is open and transparent for everyone to see. Every penny is accounted for and anyone can view the Ways & Means proposal here: https://malegislature.gov/Budget/FY2027/SenateWaysMeansBudget/Ways_Means_Final_Budget; view amendments that have been filed by Senators here: https://malegislature.gov/Budget/SenateDebate; and watch the livestream of debate here: https://malegislature.gov/Events/Sessions/Detail/7706
