This weekend, the St. John's (Not-So-Spooky) Haunted House will be taking place. This is a perfect outing for preschool and elementary age kids and includes refreshments and activities in their lower church hall afterwards.

Friday the event will run from from 5:00 - 7:00, and Saturday from 4:30 - 7:00 at St. John's Hingham, 172 Main Street.

Congratulations to the twelve recipients of the Duxbury Community Volunteer Awards this year! Thank you to Kitsy Mayo, Chuck Dillon, Ed Wadsworth, Nancy Wadsworth, Sally Burke, Patricia Cook, Peter Andrew, Tara Downes, Graham Nelson, Frank Holden, Mike Herlihy, and Kevin Mullins for all the hard work that you do for our community.

I was thrilled to attend the award ceremony and dinner alongside my colleague Representative Sweezey, where we presented all the nominees with official recognition from the Senate and House to commemorate their volunteer commitment.

The DCVA started in 1996 as a way to recognize the important role volunteers play in Duxbury and throughout the South Shore. Duxbury volunteers lead civic causes, environmental issues, youth sports, historical endeavors, and more. Keep up the great work.

I was honored to accept the 2026 CONNECT Distinguished Legislator Award at Bridgewater State University last week. Honorees were selected based on commitment to public service and advocacy throughout all levels of the Massachusetts public education system.

CONNECT, a Southeastern Massachusetts Public Higher Education Partnership, fosters collaboration among colleges, universities, high schools, educators, and employers. Through these partnerships, Connect Partnership helps students discover new opportunities, achieve academic success, and prepare for meaningful careers while supporting the growth and development of the regional workforce.

At the annual Legislative Gathering and Awards dinner, my colleague Representative Carole Fiola was also honored, and students from each CONNECT institution highlighted How AI Is Reshaping Learning and Work, during a student panel discussion.

I appreciate being nominated for this award and I appreciate all the work that CONNECT continues to do for our students.

The annual Night of 1000 Faces at New England Wildlife Center will be taking place on Friday October 23 and Saturday October 24 from 6:30-8:30 pm, where their nature trail will have over two thousand lit up pumpkins.

I stopped by the New England Wildlife Center yesterday to help in carving pumpkins for this weekend. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out in assisting to make this event a reality. Thank you to Emily Mary Photography for some of the pictures from the afternoon.

This is an event that should be fun for the whole family and I encourage anyone looking for a fall activity to do the weekend before Halloween to attend.

I'm happy to announce that Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Marshfield, Scituate, and Weymouth have received funding in FY27 grants which will support traffic safety programming across the Commonwealth.

These programs allow local public safety officials, community nonprofits, and state agencies to identify the most pressing traffic safety issues in their communities and direct funding toward their specific needs. Funded projects range from enforcement initiatives and traffic safety equipment to public outreach and education and improvements to crash data collection.

Each of these grant programs represents an important investment in the safety of Massachusetts communities. Together, they promote a collaborative approach to addressing traffic safety challenges and keeping all road users safe.

For young people 18-22 who have ever been involved with a Massachusetts state agency, such as DCF, DYS, DMH, DPH, or DDS, the Massachusetts Office of the Child Advocate wants to hear about experiences through art. They’re holding an art contest, an opportunity for individuals to share their perspective, creativity, and experiences.

There are three contest themes, there will be one winner in each category, and each winner will receive a $200 gift card. Submissions are open through December 15.

The 38th annual Road To Responsibility, Inc. Making Lives Better Gala was a great success! $640,000 was raised in support of the mission of Road to Responsibility, which is continuing to work to improve the lives of adults with disabilities.

The event was attended by more than 300 business and civic leaders, with the highlight being a special program highlighting and celebrating the progress and change Road to Responsibility has made for people in our community.

I have had the pleasure of working alongside Road to Responsibility throughout my time in office and my staff and I appreciate all the hard work that they do daily in providing a full range of support to help individuals grow, connect, and live independently.

Thank you for having me and I look forward to the changes and impact that RTR continue to make on all who are involved within their organization.

The Town of Cohasset - Government has received funding in the FY27 Community One Stop for Growth round of grants. The $70,000 sum will be invested into community and neighborhood planning.

This grant aims to provide access to economic development and housing grant programs. The One Stop programs fund projects related to community building, planning and zoning, site preparation, building construction, and infrastructure.

I am excited for the potential that this funding opportunity has for the Town of Cohasset and how continued development will draw people in to our community here on the South Shore.

Earlier this week at the State House, my office was proud to welcome members of the Scituate Sister City West Cork Committee (SSCIWCC) and the Irish delegation that they are hosting this week from West Cork, Ireland. The delegation includes Cllr Danny Collins, Cllr Deidre Kelly, Cllr Caroline Cronin and Noreen O’Mahoney, who graciously gifted me a picture of Lough Hyne, a fully marine saltwater lake in West Cork.

As part of their week here in Massachusetts, we all met with the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) to discuss the ongoing partnership between West Cork and Scituate. It has officially been ten years of the Scituate And West Cork Ireland Friendship Pact, so I was happy to present both groups with official Senate recognition in honor of this accomplishment.

I know all of us here look forward to our continued relations with West Cork and I wish you all the best throughout the rest of your week in Scituate and on the South Shore.
