Just a reminder that there are no book sales in April 2025 or June 2025. Our next book sale will be Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 10AM - 3PM. Due to ongoing renovations in the McKim Building, the sale will be held in the Commonwealth Salon room of the Johnson Building of the BPL.
We will also hold later book sales on:
- August 2, 2025
- October 4, 2025
- December 6, 2025
Volunteers are always needed before the sale to help sort and shelve items and during the sale to help restock depleted shelves and bag sold items. Please email [email protected] with the word “Volunteer” in the subject line, or call (617) 859-2341 and leave a message with your contact information and someone will get back to you to follow up.
We hope to see you at a CWFBPL Book Sale soon!

Meet Patches!
Do you have a work-from-home job and need an assistant? Patches is the girl for you! She participates in daily rounds, and supervises day-to-day operations at our front desk. Patches is also a professional snuggler and snack connoisseur. This lovely lady was found as a stray, so we don't know too much about her past. But we think Patches should do well in most homes.
Interested in this little lady? Fill out the application below and email it to [email protected]

Happy Monday! This is the start of a new series, where we pot a new quote every Monday to give you inspiration for the week ahead. Today's quote is "Bad libraries build collections, good libraries build services, great libraries build communities," by R. David Lankes, Professor and Director of the School of Library & Information Science at the University of South Carolina, the Follett Chair at Dominican’s Graduate School of Library & Information Science, and recipient of the American Library Association’s 2016 Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship).
Do you agree? What do you think makes a great library?
