Happy ! As we celebrate , YDMA wants to remind everyone to support, encourage and defend women with more than just words.
Women have led the charge for social change on every battlefield of conscience, yet they are still one of the most unprotected demographics across the globe. This , let's recommit to fighting alongside them for gender equity and equality with our actions, not just our rhetoric.
A huge shoutout as well to the YDMA Women's Caucus for being at the forefront of that fight in Massachusetts!

On this Christmas Eve and long weekend, we’re so disappointed to see Governor Baker veto women’s access to reproductive healthcare again. Join us in reaching out to your legislators to voice your support,as they take up the override vote.
Governor Baker’s veto of the abortion access legislation demonstrates a callous and disregard for the health and wellbeing of the people of the Commonwealth, one that has become a hallmark of this administration of the last few weeks.
With this veto, the Governor has made plain that he has no problem imposing medically unnecessary, politically motivated barriers to abortion care that disproportionately impact communities of color, delay and deny care, and force families to fly across the country for compassionate care.
These provisions are supported by large majorities in both chambers and an overwhelming majority of Bay State voters. We respectfully call on the legislature to once again lead where the Governor has failed by overriding his veto. Urge your legislators to override the Governor’s veto now: https://bit.ly/overridebaker

The YDMA Women’s Caucus shares the voice of Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts, NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, and so many wonderful advocacy organizations who continue to fight for the Roe Act becoming Massachusetts Law.
By gutting provisions to improve youth access to abortion and turning his back on young people, as well as women suffering with fatal fetal diagnoses, Governor Baker chose to not listen to:
Doctors
Lawyers
Patient advocates
Massachusetts voters
Governor Baker's actions are unacceptable. The provisions in the state budget were already a compromise with the anti-choice politicians in the statehouse minority. By maintaining anti-choice laws passed in the '70s with the sole purpose of obstructing care and limiting access to abortion, Gov. Baker is promoting government intervention in health care & trying to mandate family relationships.
We are proactive voices in support of equitable access to abortion care and the YDMA women's caucus is fiercely pro-choice. Governor Baker says he’s “pro-choice,” but he has proven to be a true far-right politician by these actions taken.
We would like to encourage you to reach out to your state representative & state Senator and ensure they know they have your support in fighting for the ROE act.
Planned Parenthood has put together this petition, and we hope you will lend them your support as well.

ROE Act Coalition Statement on the Adoption of Amendment #759 - NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts
While our work is far from over, the ROE Act Coalition recognizes the passage of budget Amendment #759 as a significant accomplishment, years in the making.
11/10/2020
The Massachusetts House is debating their budget starting Tuesday, November 10. Just this afternoon, the Speaker signaled that the ROE Act would be debated as part of the budget. Amendment #759 would help enshrine reproductive access into Massachusetts law by keeping the decision about abortion care between individuals and their doctors.
Regrettably, the current version of the amendment would still impose unnecessary burdens on many young people seeking abortion care.
