Irish organisations of New England:

The Emigrant Support Programme (ESP) 2027–2028 will open for applications on Wednesday 9 December 2026 and will remain open until Thursday 14 January 2027.

The ESP is a key part of the Irish Government’s Diaspora Strategy and is a tangible expression of Ireland’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening links with the Irish diaspora around the world.

The Consulate will be holding an information session for all interested organizations in advance of the application window – stay tuned for further details & contact the Consulate for more information!

This weekend we gathered in Cohasset to mark the memory of the passengers of the Brig St. John and the Irish Famine immigrants who arrived in Cohasset in 1849 seeking hope and a new beginning. Thank you AOH South Shore and Máirin Ui Chéide for this special commemoration event and to Professor Christine Kinealy for her presentation on the Global Irish Famine Way.

A privilege to attend the launch of ‘Stronger Together’ by Dominic Cogan and Chandra Manning at the Union Club in Boston this weekend. The book is a real labour of love, chronicling the life and work of Sr. Lena Deevy both in Ballymun and with the Irish Immigration Centre in Boston. It shines a light on the Irish immigrant experience in America and speaks to Sr. Lena’s lifelong mission of inclusion and dignity for all. Ambassador Byrne Nason will reflect on the enduring Irish-American relationship and Ireland’s contribution, not only to the foundation of the U.S., but also to its political, economic and social development over the past 250 years.

The event also includes a reading by poet and Professor Micheal O’Siadhail of ‘Irish America’, his specially-commissioned poem celebrating 250 years of shared U.S.-Ireland heritage, and a special Irish musical performance.
