October 18-24 celebrates National Friends of the Library week!
We shared this last week, but it's too good not to share again!

Another major Friends' Fundraiser is the Taste of Boulder Junction, held each year on the first Saturday of October. Bringing in food and beverage vendors from around the area, the event also has raffle baskets and a variety of games. In conjunction with the Taste, the Friends also hold a Fall Raffle, selling tickets throughout the summer and into early October. This year's event and raffle brought in over $15,000!

October 18-24 celebrates National Friends of the Library week!
The Friends' Board meetings are where it all begins! The Friends meet every other month to discuss library funding and fundraiser events.

We're a few weeks away from our next meeting, happening Wednesday, November 11th at 8:30am in the Library. The meeting is open to all! Stop in to see what's next for our organization!

Are Wednesdays at 8:30am an inconvenient time? Our current board is looking for suggestions on how to encourage more meeting attendance! If you are interested in attending meetings, let us know days and times that would work better!

A reminder that our Dance, Dip, and Remember program is tonight at 5pm!

Centering around Day of the Dead, this program will begin with exploring the history and cultural significance of this holiday. Then, feel the rhythm with a beginner-friendly salsa dancing lesson before wrapping up the entire experience with a salsa-making demonstration where you'll learn to craft authentic, fresh recipes from scratch!

We're missing summer already! Tuesdays June - August the Friends host their weekly book sale at the flea market. This year's sales brought in over $12,000 to go towards the library! The men & women in tie-dye work hard during these sales and year-round as they collect and sort books.

100 Years of the Hundred Acre Wood!

"Winnie the Pooh" was originally published October 14, 1926.

If you've been in our director's office, you've most likely noticed she's been a life-long fan of A.A. Milne's beloved characters. So celebrate with us today and throughout the rest of the week. Come to the Library for stickers, pin the tail on Eeyore, and to check out any Winnie the Pooh material.

Some more fun facts: February 4th of this year was the 60th anniversary of Disney's release of the "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree" short. This coming March 11 will celebrate 50 years since the release of "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh", the theatrical compilation of the first three Disney shorts.

Pictured below are the original stuffed animals belonging to the real-life Christopher Robin Milne, on display at the New York Public Library.
