143 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Last month, Trooper Arias was monitoring traffic when he clocked a yellow Mustang traveling at 143 mph—more than twice the posted speed limit. He immediately turned around and activated his lights and sirens, but the driver continued at an extreme speed, where the speed limit drops to 45 mph.

The driver eventually pulled over and was arrested for DUI and several other offenses.

Driving impaired is dangerous enough. Paired with extreme speed, the consequences can be deadly.

Please make the responsible choice: slow down, drive sober, and help keep Montana’s roads safe.

Today we remember and honor Trooper David A. Graham, who lost his life when he was struck head-on by a truck north of Kalispell while on patrol in 2007. Trooper Graham is remembered for his smile, uplifting personality, and his love for his career. He left behind a wife and three children, along with many other loved ones and friends.
In 2023, a section of Highway 2, from the southern boundary of the city of Kalispell to the western boundary of Columbia Falls, was named the Highway Patrol Officer David Graham Memorial Highway.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Graham's family and loved ones today.

Black bear on the run in Dillon this morning!

Troopers, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, and the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a black bear making its way a bit too close to residents.

The agencies worked together to safely locate the bear, tranquilize it, and get it secured for relocation. The bear is now headed to a safer, more suitable location.

Another successful team effort to keep both our communities and Montana’s wildlife safe.🐻🚔
