Today, on National Day of the Deployed, we pause to honor the brave service members serving far from home, as well as the families who keep life steady in their absence.

Thank you for everything you give. We look forward to the day we can welcome you home safe and sound. 🇺🇸❤️

Today, we had the honor of welcoming Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs, Samuel Brown and his team to Massachusetts National Cemetery Complex! Under Secretary Brown took the time to meet with our dedicated staff, recognizing their hard work and unwavering commitment to honoring our nation's Veterans and their families.
As the Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs, Mr. Brown oversees the National Cemetery Administration's mission of providing dignified burials and lasting memorials to Veterans across the country. During his visit, he presented several of our team members with challenge coins in recognition of their dedication and service excellence.
We are grateful for this visit and the continued support from NCA leadership as we carry out our sacred mission — ensuring every Veteran and family we serve receives the honor and dignity they deserve. 🫡

🍂 A Peaceful Autumn Morning at Massachusetts National Cemetery 🍂

A beautiful, peaceful morning greeted us with the season’s first frost, blanketing our grounds in a touch of autumn magic. Along the way, we spotted wild turkeys and deer enjoying the quiet morning.

As the seasons change, our local wildlife continues to forage for hearty meals, and occasionally, that includes the remaining live flowers placed at gravesites. We appreciate your understanding as we share these grounds with the wildlife that call this area home.

🌼 A friendly reminder to our visitors:

* Potted plants, including mums, are not permitted on gravesites.
* Beginning November 1, artificial flowers will be permitted. Fresh cut flowers are allowed all year in one of our provided cemetery vases.

Thank you for helping us maintain the beauty, dignity, and care of Massachusetts National Cemetery while honoring the Veterans and loved ones resting here.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and beautiful autumn season. 🍁

‼️Attention‼️to all visitors of Massachusetts National Cemetery

At some point in the next week or so, if you are visiting us here at Massachusetts National Cemetery, you might think we had been invaded by thousands of Canada Geese (really only a few pesky flocks) -we assure you that the majority of what you may see 👀 on the ground are not parting gifts which have been left to us by the Geese as they get ready to fly South, they are just plugs of our turf and they will dissolve back into the Earth 🌎 soon enough.

Our grass is aerated each year to help create stronger growth for next year. Our dedicated caretakers are continuously working to keep our grounds pristine and to National Shrine standards.

Section 61 is also being prepped for sod placement, which will take place on Tuesday, October 13. Grave markers are currently safely secured in storage until the sod laying has been completed. There are temporary grave markers at your loved one’s gravesite. We appreciate your understanding while we continue this important work.

We hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.
