On Tuesday night 8/4/26 Bovina Fire placed our replacement truck 591 in service. This "New" truck is a 2012 F550 E-One with a 1250 gpm Hale pump, 300 gallons of water, and an onboard foam system. With the skyrocketing price of new apparatus and looking at over $450,000 for a replacement truck we found this good used southern truck (NC) as a replacement for less than 1/3 the cost of new. This truck is 98% the spec we were looking for!
A few modifications had to be made and we had it painted to freshen it up and match our fleet. A huge thank you to Vernooy's Automotive in Downsville for the great paint work!
The truck as we bought it had an extended front bumper that made it longer than we could fit in our station. Since the ambulance and this truck share the same door we need to stay around 23' in length. As delivered it was 24'5". By removing the extension we got the truck to 22'10" and a perfect fit! This work was completed in house by our members.
A storage box/rack for 4 pieces of 6" suction was fabricated by Romo Machine in Andes, NY.
Deb Flemming of Sign Designs in Delhi made and applied all of the lettering and 4" reflective striping on the truck!
The mobile radios were transferred from the old truck by our local Kenwood radio dealer, KJBL Electronics from Downsville, NY
This truck responds to all MVA calls in the district, fights brush fires, and is a water supply truck on structure fires. It also carries 4 airpacks and can be used to access driveways in the district that our larger engine can not access.
