Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Wabanaki Nations, the first stewards of the land we now call Maine.

In recent years, we have made progress toward building a more equitable future, but more work remains.

I remain committed to healing past wrongs and creating a more prosperous future for all who call Maine home.

Have you gotten your fall vaccines yet?

While grocery shopping this week, I got mine, and it took less than 10 minutes!

Despite changes to federal vaccine guidance, Mainers still have access to vaccines backed by trusted medical experts thanks to a new law I sponsored this year.

If you haven’t gotten yours yet, make it part of your next errand! To find a pharmacy near you, visit: https://ncpa.org/pharmacy-locator.

As heating oil and electricity costs continue to put pressure on household budgets, I wanted to help our community better understand what goes into our electricity bills and what we can do to save money.

That’s why Rep. Kilton Webb and I invited Maine Public Advocate Heather Sanborn to Bowdoinham to break down the different parts of our electric bills, explain what drives our rates, and share ways Mainers can lower their energy costs.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us! I learned a lot from the conversation, and I hope you did too.

I look forward to seeing you all tonight!

Rising energy costs are making it harder for Mainers to keep up with household expenses. It’s one of the top concerns I hear from families in our community.

On Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m., Heather Sanborn, Maine’s Public Advocate, Rep. Kilton Webb, and I will be at Bowdoinham Town Hall hosting a free talk on what goes into your electric bill – how rates are set, what drives monthly costs, and ways you may be able to save.

We hope you can make it! Plenty of parking is available on-site at 13 School Street.

This federal decision will not impact Maine.

In a statement addressing recent news, CoverME.gov Director Hilary Schneider shared:
“The Maine Department of Health and Human Services runs CoverME.gov, a state-based health insurance marketplace, so it is unaffected by yesterday’s announcement that hundreds of thousands will be removed from the Federal marketplace. Though the State will not begin 2027 Open Enrollment on CoverME.gov until November 1, 2026, we encourage Maine people who may be looking for health insurance coverage to visit CoverME.gov and see whether they may be eligible now, due to a qualifying life event such as getting married or divorced, moving, changing jobs, or losing other insurance coverage.”

Have questions or need help using CoverME.gov? Call our free HelpLine at 1-800-965-7476.

Happy Maine Lobster Week!

For one last hurrah of summer, my family spent a few days in Cape Rosier. On the way home, we stopped at Bagaduce Lunch in Penobscot for lobster rolls.

Unfortunately for me, my son—who had ordered a burger—took one look at my lobster roll and immediately regretted his decision. He asked for a bite…and somehow I ended up swapping meals with him.

So I got exactly one bite of my lobster roll.
But it was worth it for the lifetime of guilt I now get to hold over him for this extraordinary act of motherly generosity. 😂🦞❤️
