Yesterday’s Mockingbird Fire was a powerful reminder that when our community is in need, people show up. The Bowie Rural Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who supported our firefighters and the many agencies working alongside us.
A special thank you to Milano’s Pizza for stepping up and rushing 20 pizzas out to feed hungry crews, and to Victory Church for making sandwiches and helping make sure no one went without a meal.
We also can’t thank the better-halves of the BRVFD enough. While we were focused on the fire, they were behind the scenes making sure all of us were fed, watered, and taken care of. Your support means more than we can say.
To everyone who brought food, drinks, water, and other supplies to the Mockingbird Fire: THANK YOU. Those gestures may seem simple, but during a long, hot day on a fire scene, they make a tremendous difference.
We are also extremely grateful to the many fire departments from Montague, Wise, Jack, and Clay counties that answered the call and worked alongside us. Fighting a fire of this size takes an incredible amount of manpower, equipment, coordination, and teamwork. We are fortunate to have neighboring departments willing to come together when it matters most.
And finally, thank you to the U.S. and Texas Forest Services, Commissioner Darden, the Emergency Management Coordinators for the State of Texas, Montague County, and the City of Bowie, and the private dozer companies for their assistance, coordination, and support throughout the incident.
There are far too many people who stepped up yesterday to name everyone individually, but please know that every meal, case of water, gallon of fuel, helping hand, and word of encouragement was noticed and appreciated.
Yesterday was a team effort in every sense of the word - firefighters, emergency personnel, local officials, churches, businesses, families, and neighbors all working together.
From all of us at the Bowie Rural Volunteer Fire Department: THANK YOU. We are incredibly grateful to serve a community that takes care of those who are working to take care of it. 🚒❤️
