The Foundry is a faith-based community development center in the West End of Bowling Green, KY.

The Foundry’s mission is to develop leaders among the children and young people of a specific neighborhood, Bowling Green's West End. The focus is intended to be targeted—with a desire to maximize impact and concentrate resources. This concentration includes a focus on children, especially preschool-aged children. Even more specifically, it is designed to identify high potential children and families who might otherwise go unidentified and under-resourced. The goal is to build strong relationships with these children and families and enhance opportunities. Success is defined in children who might otherwise do “ok” instead thriving, succeeding, and leading in positive ways in our community. As one would imagine, this vision requires comprehensive and long-term efforts. Of all areas of focus, education becomes the primary tool for escaping the negative effects of poverty. Other initiatives, including physical fitness, community gardens, health-based initiatives, and neighborhood groups enhance and enrich life in the community. Under-girding all of this is a faith-based approach that is not merely focused on propositional evangelism without relationship. Instead, the faith aspects of this plan fuel a desire to commit to long-term development, increasing human dignity on both sides of “the tracks” and raising hope that God can and does change people and systems.

🎃 The Foundry's Preschool Academy visited the pumpkin patch 🎃

-- And what a great time it was!!

On this field trip, our students rode behind the tractor on a hayride, were covered in kernels playing in the corn pit, got a lesson on how pumpkins grow then picked their own pumpkin, and learned what the buzz is about bees. 🌽 🐝

A special shoutout to Just Piddlin Farm for hosting us and State Street United Methodist Church for loaning us a bus to safely transport students.

We are so grateful for days of discovery like these at The Foundry!

We had a blast celebrating the changing of the seasons at The Foundry's Fall Festival this past Saturday! 🍁🎃

Families had the opportunity to play games and activities, gather important information about healthy eating, jam out with Tim the DJ, and fill their bellies with delicious potato soup and cornbread. A big thanks to everyone who came out to participate in this event.

Shout out to our incredible community partners for their continued support of The Foundry and the families we serve. We could not do this work without you! 🙏

Remember, every second Saturday of each month, we host a free Healthy Foundry event dedicated to supporting the well-being of our community.

📅 The next event will be a Thanks-Gathering on November 10th, and the theme is Fire Prevention and First Aid. Make sure to mark your calendars!

Bright Coalition, Barren River District Health Department, Family Enrichment Center, Inc., Bowling Green Promise Neighborhood, Warren County Parks and Recreation Department, Broadway UMC, Bowling Green KY, Heritage Children Service of Bowling Green, Tim the DJ, and so many more!
