Bowling Green Missouri Public Library What is more important in a public library than anything else - than everything else - is the fact that it exists. ~ Archibald MacLeish.

The Bowling Green Library has been through some changes recently! We are now a Missouri Evergreen library. Our library has much to offer the public; from books, magazines and movies to services such as faxes, public notary, public computers/Wifi and test preparation. So whether you want to read good book, to watch a good movie, or just to spend some quiet time the library is your answer, and the only ticket you need is a library card. Library cards are free to citizens of Bowling Green, Missouri. For those outside the city limits, individual memberships are $20 or family memberships are available for $40.

Welcome to October! We’re celebrating Halloween at Bowling Green Public Library this month.

Stop by Friday, October 30, or Saturday, October 31, during normal library hours for a free goodie bag! Bags may include candy, bookmarks, books, and other surprises, while supplies last.

We’re also having a costume contest! The top five winners will each receive a king-size candy bar and a new book.

Contest photos will be posted on our page. Parent/guardian photo release forms will be available for minors, and we can blur faces upon request.

Wear a costume or your favorite outfit; costumes and contest participation are optional. Everyone is welcome!

TJ and Honey will be in costume, too! Stop in and say hello.

Open Play: We Want Your Feedback!

We're looking at ways to improve attendance at our Open Play program and would love to hear from you!

Our current Open Play schedule is the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 10:00–11:30 a.m. The program is open to young children and their parents or caregivers.

Open Play gives children a chance to play and socialize while parents and caregivers connect with other families in the community.

We're considering changing the day or time to make it easier for more families to participate.

Does our current schedule work for your family? If not, what days and times would work better? Would you prefer a morning, afternoon, or evening program?

We'd also love to know the ages of your children and whether there are any activities you'd like to see offered during Open Play.

Whether you've attended before or are interested in joining us for the first time, we'd appreciate your input!

Please share your thoughts in the comments. We want to make sure our programs are meeting the needs of the families in our community.

Story Time: We Want Your Feedback!

We're looking at ways to improve attendance at Story Time and would love to hear from families in our community!

Our current Story Time schedule is the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 10:00–11:15 a.m. The program is open to children ages 10 and under, including preschoolers and homeschooled children.

We're considering changing the day or time to make it easier for more families to attend.

Does our current schedule work for your family? If not, what days and times would work better? Would you prefer a morning, afternoon, or evening program?

We'd also love to know the ages of your children so we can plan activities that are appropriate for the families attending.

Whether you're a regular attendee or haven't been able to make it to Story Time yet, we'd appreciate your input!

Please share your thoughts in the comments. Your feedback will help us make Story Time a program that more families can enjoy.

Have you heard? We have a Snack Bar!

If you haven’t stopped by during our Tuesday evening hours lately, you may not have seen one of our newest additions: the Library Snack Bar!

And while we especially advertise it on Tuesday evenings, the Snack Bar is actually available anytime the library is open.

🍿 Snacks - $1.00
🥤 Drinks - $1.50
⭐ Snack + Drink Combo - $2.00

We have popcorn, chips, cookies, pretzels, Gatorade, and more, with all proceeds going right back toward library programming.

We do ask that food and drinks stay away from our public computers and library materials. But if you're hanging out, playing a game, meeting up with friends, working at a table, using your own materials, or just spending some time at the library, you're welcome to grab a snack or drink and enjoy!

And don't forget: Tuesdays we're open until 8 PM! Stop in, grab a snack, and stay awhile.
