The Boxford FD is part of the Public Safety branch of the Town of Boxford. Organizational structure of the department is a full-time Chief overseeing one captain and six lieutenants working out of two fire stations on an on-call basis. Interstate Route 95 cuts a five mile path through the town over which extremely heavy volumes of car and truck traffic travel daily on their way to points in northern New England and south towards Boston and New York. State roads Route 133 and 97 cut an east west path connecting our town to the New England coastline.

Boxford Fire has hung our mourning flags at each station in honor of retired Lieutenant Ed Laverty, who passed away last week following a battle with cancer.

Ed joined the department in October 1988 and was promoted to Lieutenant in April 1992 before retiring in August of 2007. Lieutenant Laverty spent his career responding out of West Fire and was an active instructor for the department, especially medical skills.

Lt. Laverty was one of the first individuals who would welcome you onto the department or to call you after a difficult call. He had a passion for helping people in need and sharing his vast medical knowledge. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Last night, members of the Boxford Fire Department were proud to support the Topsfield Fire Department during the Topsfield Fair.

Maintaining strong partnerships with our neighboring departments is an important part of the fire service. Through mutual aid, shared resources, training, and supporting one another at large community events, we’re better prepared to serve our communities when it matters most.

Thank you to Topsfield Fire Department for having us, and to all of the departments working together to keep the Topsfield Fair safe! πŸš’πŸŽ‘

Use caution while driving in Towns. Several streets have limbs or wires down. There are currently road closures near 167 Washington Street and Route 97 near King Richard (use King George to avoid).

Remember to report loss of power directly to National Grid. Never go near down wires.

We had a great turnout today at the Boxford Fire Department Open House during Applefest! 🍎🍎

It was great seeing so many families and community members stop by to meet our firefighters, check out the apparatus, and spend some time with us.

We truly appreciate everyone who came out and made the day such a success. We’re always proud to be part of this incredible community.

Thank you, Boxford! πŸš’πŸ”₯🍎
