In a ranking published by Insider Monkey, Haiti is ranked 6th among the 12 countries that produce the best rums in the world.

According to , the sites states that many of the best rums in the world are made in the Caribbean showing the ranking is actually dominated by Caribbean countries.

The site specifies that Rhum Barbancourt is a rum produced from pure sugar cane juice and bottled in Haiti by the Barbancourt Rum Society. The distillery is one of the oldest institutions in Haiti and its rum is the most famous export in the country, widely considered one of the best rums in the world for more than 150 years.

Jamaica is first, Cuba is second, Barbados is third, Martinique is in fourth place while Guyana is fifth. All these countries are ahead of Haiti, which is in 6th place in this prestigious ranking. Puerto-Rico is last despite its name as the world capital of rum. Australia is eleventh, the United States is in tenth place, India is ninth, Trinidad is tenth while the Philippines are behind Haiti in seventh place.
