Last night’s Community Potluck event made my heart full. I wasn’t sure if 5 or 25 people would show up on a cold, rainy weeknight. People trickled in until the tables were full and the room was filled with the buzz of conversations between old friends and new. I haven’t organized a group conversation based potluck since Civic Supper Club at The Space On Main and last night’s event definitely left me feeling like we need these more often. I can’t thank attendees enough. Thank you for your time, your questions, your comments, and for the energy you shared with the group as a whole. At a time when everything feels divisive, nothing really beats a community meal for reminding us that in Vermont, neighbors have so much to offer each other in the way of conversation and support. Extra thank you shout outs to Brian & Dave for playing music, Eric & Mel for the yummy arepas, Allie for picking up food, and to everyone who helped clean up. ❤️

And to Greg and The Opera House Farm Group for the unexpected and beautiful certificate of honor prompted by Greg reading international news featuring me and Utah Rep Doug Fiefia (R), leading efforts to push back against Big Tech and Trump’s multiple executive orders attempting to undermine state regulation of AI. Like a community potluck, I have found community with tech policy legislative leaders across the country and am so thankful for the friends I have made spanning the political spectrum - all working to uphold our states’ right to govern and protect our people from the abuses of Big Tech. 💪

I’m honored to be endorsed by U.S. Senator Peter Welch and U.S. Congresswoman Becca Balint. Peter and Becca have spent their careers fighting for Vermont. They understand what rural communities like ours are up against. Having their support means a lot to me. In the House, I’ve worked across party lines on affordability, rural issues, and protecting Vermonters from Big Tech. I want to keep doing that work for Orange County in the Senate. Thank you, Peter and Becca! I’m proud to stand with you! Ballots are in mailboxes now. Vote by November 3rd. Learn more at priestleyvt.com.

Started the morning with coffee and maple donut time at Grandpa’s Snack Shack in Strafford and then headed to the Corinth Fall Festival through the afternoon. First time seeing a horse enjoy maple donuts! Thanks to Sarah for hosting a meet and greet and to all of the volunteers who put together the festival - it was so great! 😍☕️🍩🐴🍁

Had a great start to the day with coffee at the newly opened Honey Bee Coffee & Tea in Bradford followed by a walk through Miss Shannon’s Fall Market in Corinth. I’m so proud of these local entrepreneurs for their work to create community-focused enterprises. Spent the afternoon at the Rural VT Rising rally at the state house to hear what folks had to say. It was great to run into so many fellow legislators and to listen to a variety of speakers.

Thank you to Building Bright Futures for hosting last night’s candidate panel for those running for House and Senate across Orange and Washington counties. Thank you to everyone who came out to listen and ask questions. Our youngest Vermonters and their families deserve this kind of focused attention on Workforce, Housing, and Economic Prosperity solutions.

I’m also grateful to my fellow panelists who chose to show up. Every answer was thoughtful. The conversation stayed on solutions, not party lines. That’s how it should work in Vermont, and I’m glad we demonstrated it’s possible.

On Wednesday night, it was such a pleasure to visit with the Vermont Farm Bureau followed by watching Bess O’Brien’s new film at the Playhouse theater in Randolph. From the film’s website: “Every Day: Big and Small is about how Vermonters create small miracles, show up for each other, stand up to adversity and create positive change.  The film is about how folks prevail, and can rise above the often fragmented society we live in to make a better place for us to live.”

The film is such a beautiful celebration of the importance of community. It was fun seeing so many community organizer friends and so many examples of the often quiet ways in which communities support Vermonters. Community organizing work is one of the most critical aspects of social connection and community cohesion, yet so much of it is often invisible to a majority of folks. It is fulfilling, but also comes with a lot of challenges to overcome. This film beautifully and quietly celebrates the volunteers, nonprofits, and other community-centered businesses, that often fill gaps in government services, address the needs of so many, and empower people in unique and powerful ways.

The film made be proud to be a Vermonter, proud to be a community organizer, proud of my partner who is featured working in one of the stories, and so proud thinking of the many, many other people I know who do the work of organizing every single day, often unpaid or minimally paid, and often without recognition or acknowledgment. Thank you for the work you do to improve the lives of people around you.

And thank you to Bess O'Brien for capturing this beautifully and sharing it with the world.

Join Monique Priestley, candidate for Orange County State Senate, for a community potluck dinner as we head into winter. My favorite part of community is coming together to share our experiences, talk openly about what we need, and find ways to help each other. This dinner is a chance to do exactly that with folks from across Orange County.

Bring a dish if you can, but please come either way. There will be plenty to share, and no one should stay home because they can’t bring food. Expect good food, good conversation, and music provided by local musicians. Everyone is welcome.

When: Oct 13, 2026, 6 to 8 PM
Where: Corinth Town Hall, Cookeville Road, Corinth, VT
