Domestic Violence Awareness Month is here.
For more than 45 years, Harbor House has been part of the Kankakee and Iroquois County communities, supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. But creating safer communities has never been the work of one organization alone.
It takes all of us.
It takes neighbors who are willing to listen. Businesses and organizations that make space for important conversations. Schools and community groups that teach healthy relationships. Volunteers and donors who help make our work possible. And individuals who choose to learn, speak up, and support survivors.
That is what DVAM means to us. It is a time to celebrate the community that continues to show up. Every conversation, partnership, donation, volunteer hour, shared resource, and act of support helps strengthen the network surrounding survivors and families in our community.
And there are lots of ways to be part of DVAM this October!
-Check out our upcoming DVAM events and join us in the community.
-Wear purple for Purple Thursday on October 15 and help spark conversations about domestic violence.
-Shop Harbor House merchandise at the Harbor House Resale Shoppe and show your support while making a difference.
-Get a Harbor House yard sign and let your neighbors know that our community stands with survivors.

You don't have to be an expert to make a difference. Start by learning. Start by listening. Start by showing up.
DVAM is more than a month of awareness. It is a reminder of what is possible when a community comes together. And we are grateful to have a community that continues to show up. ๐
