Carolina Lazzari grew up on School St. She studied opera in Milan at the College delle Orsoline and went on to the Chicago Opera Company. In 1920 she played Amneris in Aida at the Metropolitan Opera and in 1921 sang at venues in South America. In a trip over the Andes she contracted influenza. In 1922 she held a benefit concert for St. Raphael's Hospital in gratitude for an operation she had undergone. The benefit was held at Woolsey Hall in New Haven. Lazzari's voice seemed to never fully recover and she died in Stony Creek in 1946.
