⚡ CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY ⚡
Plug In. Power Up. Stay Safe.

Rechargeable batteries and electronic devices are part of everyday life however improper charging can cause fires.

🔋 Use only approved chargers.
🔋 Never charge devices on beds, couches, or other flammable surfaces.
🔋 Do not overload outlets or power strips.
🔋 Replace damaged batteries and charging cords.
🔋 Keep charging devices ventilated and where they can be monitored.
🔋 Never leave charging batteries unattended for long periods.

CHECK. CHARGE. PROTECT.

This Fire Prevention Week, check your smoke alarms, inspect electrical cords, review your family’s escape plan, and practice safe charging habits.

Together, we can help protect our homes, businesses, and loved ones.

Please pray for Captain Dunbar’s family and the members of IPFD #1

It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of one of our own. Jonathan Dunbar tragically passed away early Sunday morning.

Jonathan was a captain on C shift, with 14 dedicated years of service. He brought great knowledge to the fire service, hard work, drive, and earned respect among his crew. His leadership and strong personality will be deeply missed. We will remember Dunbar, as we knew him, from all of his years of service, the brotherhood, and the close relationships formed through time. He will be remembered when we climb upon the truck every shift, and may we honor his service every time.

All of our thoughts and prayers at this time are with his wife, his children, and his family as they navigate through this unimaginable loss. We are deeply saddened at this devastating tragedy. We are grateful for the many years we were given to have known him. May he rest in peace.

Anyone in Cecilia area interested in starting their journey in the fire service now is the time!

We are proud to announce we will be hosting another Firefighter Academy!

Available seating is limited!

Anyone wishing to test for a Firefighter 1 certification will need HAZMAT Awareness and Operations.

Our command staff was able to attend this training and came away with valuable knowledge to be better prepared when responding in severe thunderstorm events. Thanks to the national weather service Lake Charles office for coming out and teaching.

As of today, March 9, 2026, the burn ban has been lifted in St. Martin Parish. Private burning is no longer restricted.

However, Parish Ordinance 21-08-1329 prohibits the burning of unnatural products (housing materials, plastics, trash, etc) and only allows for natural products from the property (limbs, grass, etc). It also places whoever burns liable for damages to neighboring properties. Whoever is conducting burns must also stay with the burning material for the duration of the burn, or it will be treated as an unmanned, nuisance burn which will be extinguished and possibly cited for fines.

Please keep in mind current wind conditions and fire spread prevention. Please be responsible and keep our community safe!!

A burn ban is now in affect for all of St. Martin Parish all outdoor burning is prohibited and will be extinguished by fire department personnel.

Supervised outdoor cooking is still allowed

You may still see Agricultural burns being conducted during the burn ban, since they fall under the jurisdiction of agriculture and forestry.
