Summit County Man Arrested for Second Time on S*xual Assault Charges

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (Oct. 21, 2026) – Summit County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Silverthorne man for the second time in a month, this time on three felony counts of sexual assault by force.

Deputies initially began investigating 25-year-old Eladio Fernando Matute-Sevilla after a sexual assault was reported in mid-September, along Tiger Road in unincorporated Breckenridge. That investigation led to Matute-Sevilla’s first arrest on September 23, 2026, for two counts of sexual assault on a child by use of force. He later posted a $100,000 bond and was released from jail in accordance with state law.

Believing there might be more victims, the Sheriff’s Office asked the public for additional information through social media and other outlets.

Deputies received information about three additional sexual assaults in the Breckenridge and Loveland Pass areas, all involving a juvenile victim. Investigators believe the suspect contacted the juveniles through social media, arranged to meet up, and then drove them to remote areas where the assaults occurred. Deputies established probable cause linking Matute-Sevilla to the assaults, obtained an arrest warrant, and arrested him again on October 20. He was booked into the Summit County Detention Facility and is scheduled to appear in court on October 21.

“All of the victims so far have been juveniles. I urge parents of middle and high school students to talk with their children about this ongoing investigation,” Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons said. “Along with Matute-Sevilla’s booking photo, we are releasing a photo of the vehicle used in these crimes. If you recognize this person or vehicle in connection with any criminal activity, please come forward.”

Deputies believe there may be more victims in Summit and Eagle counties and possibly statewide. Anyone with information is asked to call Summit County non-emergency dispatch at 970-668-8600.

All arrests are based on probable cause, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Summit County Man Arrested for Forcible S*x Assault on Child

Summit County, Colo. (September 28, 2026) - Summit County Sheriff's deputies have arrested Eladio Fernando Matute-Sevilla, of Silverthorne, on two counts of sexual assault on a child by use of force, a felony. Deputies believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Deputies began investigating a sexual assault that reportedly occurred September 14 along Tiger Road in unincorporated Breckenridge. They obtained a general description of the suspect's vehicle and learned the suspect might be working construction jobs in Summit County. Over the following days, deputies searched for and ultimately found the vehicle in a Silverthorne parking lot.

Deputies watched the vehicle until they could identify and contact its driver. They then established probable cause and arrested Matute-Sevilla on September 23 without incident, booking him into the Summit County Detention Facility, where he remains on a $100,000 bond; his next court date is October 13, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

"We had no name, no license plate, and very few leads to follow," said Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons. "We have a child victim counting on us. Our deputies put in extensive effort and many hours to find the suspect; he is now in custody, and that's a first step toward justice."

Deputies ask anyone with information about this case or Matute-Sevilla to call non-emergency dispatch at 970-668-8600.

All arrests are based on probable cause, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Summit County and its towns have lifted fire restrictions! We want to thank everyone for your patience, tolerance and cooperation with making this one of the safest local fire seasons in recent memory -- especially given how dire our situation was going into and throughout the summer, with record-low moisture levels and wildfires all around. Well done, everyone!

Please remain vigilant: We're not out of fire season until we get snow on the ground, and even then, we can have wildfires at any time of the year. So if you see smoke where it shouldn't be, call 9-1-1.

As we ease back on fire restrictions we want everyone to remember a couple of things:

1. Backyard campfires in Summit County require a permit from your local fire district. If you have a permit, you also should have received an email stating that your permit is active again. Please remember that you need to have a means to put the fire out and a screen to prevent embers from starting additional fires.

2. Residential pile-burn permits are now available through your local fire district's website. Burning is only allowed when fire danger is low or moderate. This permit typically involves a site inspection and a quick consultation. Pro tip: Wait for a little snow to accumulate before lighting the pile.

It's not over yet! Please manage your fall fuels, keep the fallen aspen leaves away from your house and out of your gutters, and w**d whack those grasses around your home.
