Nothing is more valuable than hands on training. It helps us to remain proficient and hone the skills that are most important when seconds matter. Its not often we are afforded this opportunity in structures slated to be torn down. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Shuttleworth family for allowing us the use of this one.

"Behind the scenes" at BRFD.

There are a lot of daily checks, maintenance, and testing that goes into keeping things running. Recently you may have seen where FireCat was here to assist with testing our hose. Today, its our Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). MES is here to do flow testing on all of our SCBAs to make sure that in the event of an emergency they dont fail. They test the pressure lines, breathing of the pack, and alarms to ensure it all functions as it should. Failure of any of these could dely or prevent us from providing services when it matters most, or worse cause injury to one of our own. This is a yearly test that needs done. The bottles require a separate test on a separate schedule. There is a lot that goes into ensure the safety of not only the Township but the Firefighters that protect it and this is one small piece.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week is here! 🔥

This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” ⚡

Take a few minutes this week to talk with your family about fire safety. Make sure you’re using the right chargers, charging devices on a hard surface, and keeping them away from anything that can burn.

And don’t forget the basics: check your smoke detectors, test them regularly, and make sure your family has a home escape plan. 🚨🏠

As we wrap up September, which is Child Passenger Safety Month, there’s no better time to make sure your little ones are riding as safely as possible! We want to give a shoutout to our in-house CPST, Hannah! Thanks for all you do to keep kiddos safe!

Did you know that over 40% of car seats are installed incorrectly?

Protecting your most precious cargo starts with the right fit. Here are a few quick tips to keep in mind:
-Rear-Facing First: Keep children rear-facing as long as possible, up to the maximum height or weight allowed by their car seat manufacturer.
-The Pinch Test: Once buckled, you should not be able to pinch any excess webbing on the harness straps at the child's shoulders.
-Chest Clip Placement: The chest clip should always sit level with your child's armpits.
-Check the Fit: As kids grow, make sure you transition them from rear-facing to forward-facing harnesses, and eventually to booster seats, based on manufacturer limits.

Want peace of mind? Let the experts take a look! Schedule a free car seat check with us today by calling 740-652-2800.
