Long before construction begins, there are conversations.

Ideas get tested. Designs change. Costs are evaluated. Community feedback is reviewed. Permits, schedules and details begin lining up.

Then, eventually, something that started on paper becomes part of a park.

Good park planning takes time because these places are built to serve people for years to come.

Not every volunteer project leaves behind something you can immediately see.

Removing invasive plants, caring for native vegetation and improving habitat can take time to show results.

But those hours add up.

And so does the impact.

Thank you to the volunteers who keep showing up for the long game.

The best wildlife photo sometimes starts with knowing when not to get closer.

Give animals space. Stay on established trails where required. Keep pets under control and let wild animals stay wild.

Then enjoy the moment.

What animal are you always hoping to see when you head outside?

Some parts of a parks aren’t always the ones you notice first.

They’re under logs, above the trail, along the shoreline and tucked into the edges of the forest.

October is a great month to slow down and see what else is sharing the park with you.

What wildlife have you spotted lately?
