I would like to give a huge shoutout out to my guys and gals for the great job today on cleaning roadways and cutting trees off a couple of houses. We started at 12:30 a.m. We finally finished at 7:30 p.m. plus going to help another community that called me for help. I appreciate each and everyone of you. Especially being we are all volunteers. Thanks again your Chief

Ridge Road Volunteer Fire Department is prepared for the hurricane, we want our community to know that we will continue responding to emergency calls for as long as conditions allow us to do so safely.

That may sound unusual coming from people who walk into fire to help others, but severe winds, flooding, fallen trees, and downed power lines can prevent us from safely reaching you. If conditions become too dangerous, our response may be delayed until we can safely get to you. A delay does not mean you have been forgotten.

Please continue to call 911 for emergencies. We ask for your patience and understanding over the next 24 hours and beyond as conditions change.

Our firefighters are preparing to leave their families to help protect yours. Please keep them, their families, and all those working through this storm in your prayers.

Stay safe, Ridge Road VFD. We are here for you. ❤️🚒. Thanks Chief

Governor Kay Ivey has issued a flag-lowering directive in honor of U.S. Wildland Fire Service Firefighter Sydney Kathryne Watson of Corner, Alabama.

Watson dedicated her career to protecting our nation’s forests and natural resources through wildland fire management. She tragically lost her life alongside two fellow firefighters while battling the Knowles Fire in Western Colorado on June 27, 2026.

Flags on the grounds of the State Capitol Complex in Montgomery and statewide should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the date of Watson’s interment.
