Congratulations to Firefighter 1 Graduates Matthew Gradilone and Nico Santucci!

The Briarcliff Fire Company would like to recognize members Matthew Gradilone and Nico Santucci on successfully completing the New York State Firefighter I course!

This intensive 150-hour program, held at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, teaches firefighter candidates the essential principles, operations, and science of structural firefighting, hazardous materials response, emergency operations, and firefighter survival.

With this accomplishment, Matthew and Nico have completed the foundational training required to serve as interior structural firefighters and operate in some of the most dangerous environments encountered by the fire service.

Please join us in congratulating them on their hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community!

🔥 Big lessons from a small house… 🔥

Last night, members of the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department took part in an outstanding drill led by Captain Martinez of the Briarcliff Fire Company, focusing on fire behavior using a custom-built “doll house” prop.

This scaled-down training tool may look simple, but it delivers a powerful visual demonstration of how fire grows, moves, and reacts to ventilation. Members were able to see firsthand the warning signs and rapid progression of dangerous conditions such as flashover and backdraft—critical knowledge that directly translates to safer and more effective operations on the fireground.

Training like this reinforces the importance of reading smoke, understanding flow paths, and making the right decisions at the right time. A great job by Captain Martinez putting this together and helping our members sharpen their skills.

For all our Mt. Pleasant residents!

After every snowfall, we’re asking residents to “Adopt a Fire Hydrant” in your neighborhood. It’s simple:

✔️ Shovel a 3-foot area around the hydrant
✔️ Clear a path from the street to the hydrant
✔️ Make sure it’s visible and accessible

A hydrant buried in snow can slow down emergency response when time matters most. By keeping one hydrant clear this winter, you’re helping protect your home, your neighbors, and your entire community.

It only takes a few minutes, but it can make a life-saving difference.

💪 Adopt. Shovel. Protect.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe all winter long!

📸Post your pictures in the comments below woth your clean hydrant!
