Today, we’re celebrating Leah Clark, Executive Director of Economic Development, and an incredible 10 years of service with the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation!
For Leah, the most rewarding part of economic development is helping turn ideas into reality. From solving problems and supporting local businesses to working alongside community partners, she values the opportunity to help create projects that make Bridgeport a better place to live, work, and visit.
Over the past decade, Leah has played a role in recruiting new businesses, supporting local business expansions, investing in downtown revitalization, improving infrastructure, and helping position Bridgeport for continued growth.
When reflecting on her accomplishments, Leah is most proud not of one individual project, but of the steady progress made through people working together toward a common goal and the lasting opportunities that work has created for the community.
“Bridgeport is more than the place where I work—it’s a community that has become very important to me. What I love most is seeing what can happen when people come together with a shared vision.”
After 10 years, Leah remains grateful for the trust placed in her, the relationships built along the way, and the opportunity to serve alongside Bridgeport’s business owners, volunteers, city staff, elected officials, and residents.
Please join us in celebrating Leah’s 10 years of service, leadership, and commitment to Bridgeport and the opportunities still ahead!

AUSTIN – The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office within the Office of the Governor today announced the City of Bridgeport has been recognized by Travel Texas as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community after completing the multi-step certification process. Earning the Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation shows the commitment of Destination Bridgeport to further develop tourism as an economic growth strategy, boost local job creation, and draw more visitors to their community and to Texas from across the nation and around the world.
“Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “Travelers to and within Texas generate almost $200 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state. Every region of this great state offers endless opportunities to experience the natural beauty, rich history, and true Texas hospitality that draws visitors to our communities. I congratulate the City of Bridgeport and Destination Bridgeport on earning this designation. All Texas communities are encouraged to apply to become a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community to further grow local tourism and jobs across our great state.”

“Being recognized as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community is a proud moment for Bridgeport and a reflection of the incredible people who make our city such a welcoming place,” said Mayor Susan Coffman. “This designation celebrates the partnerships between our local businesses, community organizations, volunteers, and city leaders who work together to create an exceptional experience for every visitor. Tourism not only showcases the unique character, history, and natural beauty of Bridgeport, but it also strengthens our local economy and enhances the quality of life for our residents. We are honored to receive this recognition from Travel Texas and invite visitors from across the state and beyond to discover everything Bridgeport has to offer.”
